\n The cyclist, Richard Daniel Smith, suffered serious head injuries and had been in critical condition in hospital.\n<\/p>\n

\n David Morgan, 40, of George Winter Court, appeared at Norwich Magistrates\u2019 Court on Monday charged with attempted murder and driving with excess alcohol.\n<\/p>\n

\n Morgan – a former Heartsease High School pupil, who works as a forklift driver having previously been employed at Lotus – spoke only to confirm his name and age and did not enter a plea to the attempted murder charge.\n<\/p>\n
\n He has been remanded to appear at Norwich Crown Court on June 8.\n<\/p>\n
\n A Norfolk Constabulary spokeswoman said police will now consult with CPS on the charge.\n<\/p>\n

\n Mr Smith worked as UK sales manager for Delta Fire – a Norwich-based firm, known as is the UK\u2019s leading manufacturer of firefighting nozzles.\n<\/p>\n
\n A touching tribute to Mr Smith has been published on Delta Fire’s LinkedIn page.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our much-loved colleague, Richard Smith, passed away following a road traffic incident,” it said.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Richard was a valued member of our team and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.\n<\/p>\n

\n The force is appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information about the white Mercedes’ manner of driving before the collision to come forward.\n<\/p>\n
