{"id":580261,"date":"2026-05-12T18:29:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T18:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/580261\/"},"modified":"2026-05-12T18:29:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T18:29:12","slug":"film-industry-cannot-fight-rise-of-artificial-intelligence-says-demi-moore-demi-moore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/580261\/","title":{"rendered":"Film industry cannot fight rise of artificial intelligence, says Demi Moore | Demi Moore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Demi Moore has said her peers cannot resist the rise of artificial intelligence, saying \u201cto fight it is a battle we will lose\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The actor, who is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/cannesfilmfestival\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cannes film festival<\/a> jury, was asked during a press conference on Tuesday how AI was affecting the industry and whether she believed more regulation was needed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI always feel that against-ness breeds against-ness,\u201d she said. \u201cAI is here. And so to fight it is to fight something that is a battle that we will lose. So to find ways in which we can work with it I think is a more valuable path to take.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">She added: \u201cAre we doing enough to protect ourselves? I don\u2019t know the answer to that. And so my inclination would be to say probably not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Moore, who was last at Cannes with the body horror film The Substance, said there were \u201cbeautiful aspects to being able to utilise\u201d AI but it could never replace the human experience or touch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe truth is there really isn\u2019t anything to fear because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical, it comes from the soul,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIt comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here, to each and every one of us who creates every day. Photograph: Gonzalo Fuentes\/Reuters<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Elsewhere in the conference, Moore and the other members of the jury \u2013 chaired by South Korean film-maker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/park-chan-wook\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Park Chan-wook<\/a> \u2013 were asked about the connection between cinema and politics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI don\u2019t think politics and art should be divided,\u201d said Park. \u201cIt\u2019s a strange concept to think they\u2019re in conflict with each other. Just because a work of art has a political statement, it should not be considered an enemy of art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cAt the same time, just because a film is not making a political statement, that film should not be ignored. Even if we are to make a brilliant political statement, if it is not expressed artfully enough it would just be propaganda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Asked if speaking freely about politics could damage the promotion of a film, Moore replied: \u201cI would hope not.
