Struggling Everton defender Nathan Patterson<\/a> can revive his career back “in surroundings he knows” at Rangers this summer.<\/p>\n The right-back burst on to the scene at Ibrox in 2020 and made Steve Clarke\u2019s<\/a> squad for Euro 2020 before earning a stunning \u00a311million move to the Premier League side.<\/p>\n But he has failed to kick on since then and the 24-year-old has managed only 10 appearances for Everton throughout 2025 after he ruptured his hamstring in a 6-0 defeat to Chelsea in April 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n And this term, he’s struggled for regular action under Davie Moyes – managing just 241 minutes of Premier League action for The Toffees.<\/p>\n His only appearance since March came in a cameo off the bench in the 3-3 draw with Manchester City earlier this month.<\/p>\n And with Rangers captain James Tavernier leaving the Light Blues at the end of the season, former Scotland international Paul Dickov has recommended a return to Glasgow for Patterson – as he fights for his place in Hampden boss Clarke’s plans.<\/p>\n While he reckons that a host of clubs will be interested in the Scot – with a loan switch to Sevilla collapsing in January – he reckons Ibrox could be the perfect fit.<\/p>\n Paul Dickov<\/p>\n Speaking to Record Sport via LiveFootballTickets<\/a>: \u201cNathan Patterson is at the age where you have to be playing football.<\/p>\n “He\u2019s had some unfortunate injuries, but now that he\u2019s back, he needs game time. There\u2019s no doubting his ability, he\u2019s a top young defender, and a move back to Rangers would be good for him.<\/p>\n \u201cIf he\u2019s available, I\u2019m sure there\u2019ll be plenty of clubs interested in him. But I think a move back to Rangers<\/a>, where he\u2019s comfortable and in surroundings he knows, could reignite his career.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking in March, Patterson revealed he expected to hold talks with gaffer Moyes over his future and lack of minutes.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI know I\u2019m fully fit and ready to play.
