Hollyoaks fans might still be emotional from Alex Fletcher’s final scenes as Diane Hutchinson in today’s episode, but more exits might be on the cards very soon if one family’s declaration is to be believed.

At the start of the installment, Frankie tried to explain herself to a furious Caleb after he found out that she was in the car that crashed into their moving van, causing his injuries.

When that led to more bickering between the Keanes and the Osbournes, Leela gave Beth a very stern warning about causing trouble on her brother’s big day – especially with Diane ill upstairs.

Later, exasperated from all the drama, Beth and Jonah voiced doubts over their decision to move to Hollyoaks and vowed to move away as soon as possible. Will they, along with Caleb and Maddox, really depart already?

One thing that might convince them to stick around is a confession from Charlie Osbourne. Wracked with guilt about his role in the crash, tonight saw him finally telling his family that he was the one who caused it – not Jonah. With Frankie reeling, he told her that he plans to hand himself in. Will he?

As part of Inside Soap’s exclusive summer preview, show boss Hannah Cheers has teased details about the new character, named Abigail, and confirmed that she isn’t related to any of the existing characters.

“The story starts when Dee Dee [Hutchinson], spiralling after Diane’s death, takes ketamine a couple of times,” Cheers explained. “Tony finds out and makes the rash decision to drive her to a teen rehab facility where she meets this counsellor, Abigail.

“Dee Dee ends up escaping from rehab and Abigail follows her back to the village, then decides to stick around.”
