Most recently, the presenter revealed she&#8217;d undergone keyhole surgery to remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries as a preventative measure.<\/p>\n<p>She updated fans on her progress soon after the surgery was over, saying she was &#8220;totally fine&#8221; and would be returning to work shortly.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"1a5fa433-2761-4445-b7d5-58f9d28552b3-2\">The star has talked openly about all elements of her health, though, and recently shared how valuable she&#8217;s found a good diet and exercise regimen as she&#8217;s grown older, prioritising enjoyment and the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/fitness\/best-exercise-for-longevity\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/fitness\/best-exercise-for-longevity\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">best exercises for longevity<\/a>. &#8220;I want to be as healthy for as long as I possibly can,&#8221; she told <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.southwalesmagazine.co.uk\/post\/lorraine-kelly-on-beating-mindless-comfort-eating-and-feeling-energised-and-confident-again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.southwalesmagazine.co.uk\/post\/lorraine-kelly-on-beating-mindless-comfort-eating-and-feeling-energised-and-confident-again\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\">South Wales Magazine<\/a>. &#8220;You&#8217;ve got to start looking after yourself. I want to enjoy life for as long as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>Like a lot of us, Lorraine revealed she struggled during the pandemic with maintaining a good routine. These are three exercises she found enjoyment in and helped her get back on track.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-2874ba22-580d-41d0-91ab-29fff7215aa7\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>Lorraine Kelly&#8217;s favourite exercises<a id=\"elk-1-zumba\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>1. Zumba<\/p>\n<p id=\"af0fd02d-d9d9-401b-a74b-f9dc31d20c9e\">One of Lorraine&#8217;s favourite workouts is Zumba &#8211; especially when her instructor, Maxine Jones, is leading the class. On an episode of Lorraine, she said: &#8220;Like so many people, I found excuses not to commit to a regular exercise routine, but after finding exercise I really enjoy, and going to Maxine&#8217;s classes regularly, I feel better not only physically but mentally too.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Zumba is a dance-led fitness class that combines music from around the world with fun movements to create a high-intensity (but fun) workout. The presenter has been a fan of the class for years &#8211; she first talked about it on the show in 2014.<\/p>\n<p id=\"8e6e3886-3913-4c80-80b4-d1072d155ce0\">The presenter particularly recommends Zumba for those in <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-and-wellbeing\/menopause-symptoms-256048\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-and-wellbeing\/menopause-symptoms-256048\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">menopause<\/a>. &#8220;We were talking last year about menopause and how difficult that can be for everybody,&#8221; she said on another episode of Lorraine. &#8220;I did get quite anxious and [exercise] really helps with that. It&#8217;s like I&#8217;ve had a spring clean in my head. Wild swimming<\/p>\n<p id=\"911a7929-8fca-49ce-9d5a-99468ae6ad3c\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/I-started-wild-swimming-for-the-first-time-in-my-40s\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/I-started-wild-swimming-for-the-first-time-in-my-40s\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wild swimming<\/a> isn&#8217;t for everyone, but Lorraine says it&#8217;s one of her favourite exercises to do when she&#8217;s in Scotland. &#8220;I love wild water swimming,&#8221; she told South Wales Magazine. &#8220;Now the weather&#8217;s getting a wee bit better, I&#8217;ll try to do it once a week, for sure. It&#8217;s good for you physically, and really good for you mentally, too.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/benefits-of-wild-swimming\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/benefits-of-wild-swimming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> benefits of cold water swimming<\/a> inspired Lorraine to write her first novel &#8211; now a bestseller. The Island Swimmer is set in her beloved Orkney, where she spends many of her holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Lorraine told <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scotsman.com\/must-read\/lorraine-kelly-makes-a-splash-with-the-island-swimmer-her-debut-novel-set-in-orkney-4503421\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.scotsman.com\/must-read\/lorraine-kelly-makes-a-splash-with-the-island-swimmer-her-debut-novel-set-in-orkney-4503421\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Scotsman<\/a> that the first time she went wild swimming was in Antarctica: &#8220;I went in in my bikini, but I kept my hat on and my gloves, and ran in. I was numb from the neck down, but boy was I alive! It was the most alive I\u2019ve ever felt. I was all tingly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While everyone will have their preference on <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/what-to-wear-wild-swimming\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/what-to-wear-wild-swimming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">what to wear for wild swimming<\/a>, Lorraine notes that she opts for a swimsuit over a wetsuit as you &#8220;don&#8217;t get the same benefit&#8221; when covered up. &#8220;You don&#8217;t get the same tingle,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-3-walking\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>3. Walking<\/p>\n<p id=\"b141ed68-e4f1-4d38-b80b-bc6edd9142ea\">Walking is one of the best exercises. It boosts cardiovascular and metabolic health, and improves muscle strength, whether you go <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/walking-30-minutes-a-day\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/walking-30-minutes-a-day\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">walking for 30 minutes a day<\/a> or get your <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/fitness\/10000-steps-in-without-leaving-the-house\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/fitness\/10000-steps-in-without-leaving-the-house\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">10,000 steps in at home<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lorraine Kelly knows this better than most, as she says that walking her dogs, Angus and Ruby, is among her favourite exercises.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/celebrities\/20220509138385\/lorraine-kelly-angus-helping-mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/celebrities\/20220509138385\/lorraine-kelly-angus-helping-mental-health\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\">Hello!<\/a> in 2022, the presenter said: &#8220;Taking Angus and Ruby out for a walk doesn&#8217;t just mean I get some much-needed exercise and fresh air, it&#8217;s also a real stress buster and a chance to wind down.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our dogs have been invaluable to all of us both physically and mentally. It&#8217;s a way to keep active and to calm anxiety.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She also credits her improved social life, a key contributor to good mental wellbeing, to her dogs. In an interview with <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/lorraine-kelly-says-dog-been-23912584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/lorraine-kelly-says-dog-been-23912584\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\">Wales Online<\/a>, the presenter said: &#8220;I didn\u2019t know many people when I first moved from Scotland but taking Angus out was the best way to make friends in my new home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-fb6ba7e4-dcf9-4d8e-841a-572ed3563b73\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>How else does Lorraine Kelly stay healthy?<\/p>\n<p id=\"624a7bed-ad7c-446e-a45c-7ca2deb610bc\">As well as getting enough exercise, Lorraine revealed in an <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/life\/news-entertainment\/exclusive-lorraine-kelly-admits-she-loves-being-unleashed-and-embraces-her-cheeky-side\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/life\/news-entertainment\/exclusive-lorraine-kelly-admits-she-loves-being-unleashed-and-embraces-her-cheeky-side\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">exclusive interview with woman&amp;home<\/a> that she looks after her brain health as much as possible &#8211; especially after &#8220;my lovely&#8221; Fiona was diagnosed with dementia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I do as much as I can,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I do my Wordle and crosswords every day, and try to eat well, but it&#8217;s a horrible, cruel disease. It can affect anyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The presenter also makes sure to watch out for key signs of disease. &#8220;I am fastidious about mammograms,&#8221; she told us. &#8220;You\u2019ve got to take responsibility for yourself and find your normal, because all boobies are different.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mental outlook also matters greatly to the star. She told us that she applauds Helen Mirren&#8217;s approach to life, saying she &#8220;loves the way&#8221; the Hollywood star &#8220;says to embrace everything and enjoy every single second of what you&#8217;re doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Helen Mirren also shared her outlook on exercise with fans earlier this year, revealing the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/fitness\/helen-mirren-12-minute-workout\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/health-wellbeing\/fitness\/helen-mirren-12-minute-workout\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">12-minute workout <\/a>she does to stay in shape at 80 years old.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-1d43448f-870e-4b2a-aa06-f9c813ecdd96\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>How did Lorraine Kelly lose weight?<\/p>\n<p id=\"efb65329-489c-4da8-9956-cab8a09a6b4c\">As well as raving about the mental and physical benefits of exercise, Lorraine said that regular workouts (and balanced dietary changes) also helped her lose weight.<\/p>\n<p>Launching the Work It Out series on Lorraine earlier in the year, the host said, &#8220;Working out has helped me drop three dress sizes and changed my life in an important way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Discussing balance, Lorraine told South Wales Magazine: &#8220;If you\u2019re going out and you want to have a glass of wine, you can have one, of course you can, and of course you can have a pudding.
