{"id":583099,"date":"2026-05-14T06:49:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T06:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/583099\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T06:49:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T06:49:08","slug":"hmrc-announces-10-year-contract-with-british-ai-company-quantexa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/583099\/","title":{"rendered":"HMRC announces 10-year contract with British AI company Quantexa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A Freedom of Information request made by the campaigners at the Contentious Tax Group found there were <a href=\"https:\/\/britishbusinessexcellenceawards.co.uk\/from-the-awards\/complaints-about-hmrc-surge-to-five-year-high-as-redress-payments-rise\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more than 93,000 complaints made about the department in 2024-2025, external<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">This was an increase from just over 70,000 in 2020-21, with one of the main gripes about poor response times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Quantexa says automated decisions about tax payers made by AI will still need to be checked by people.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Quantexa chief executive Vishal Marria told the BBC the new technology was designed to &#8220;support human decision-making, not replace it&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;In government environments, AI cannot operate as a black box.
