Step by step,\u00a0Talented Hit\u00a0is carving out his profile as a quality racehorse. After a more than respectable seventh in the\u00a0Gran Premio Estrellas Mile (G1)\u00a0at Palermo \u2014 a level beyond his current capabilities \u2014 the\u00a0Stud Haras El Angel de Venecia\u00a0runner dropped back in class, focusing on the much more manageable\u00a0Cl\u00e1sico Reconquista (L, 1400m, diagonal), and the result couldn\u2019t have been better.<\/p>\n

Taking full advantage of a favorable 121-pound assignment, the\u00a0Hit It a Bomb\u00a0colt returned to the winner\u2019s circle after his previous visit to the top tier had stalled his momentum, responding solidly to favoritism at the betting windows.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Eduardo Ortega Pav\u00f3n\u00a0aboard, the bay adopted a patient tactical approach as\u00a0Garufa Mask\u00a0(Mask, 128 lbs) and\u00a0Bluclette Rim\u00a0(Remote, 120.5 lbs) set the pace through splits of :24.59 and :47.88 \u2014 unpressured but steady.<\/p>\n

The winner was never far off the pace, and once they straightened for home, the Paraguayan rider spotted a wide opening through the center. Not wanting to miss the chance, he urged the colt forward to seize the position.<\/p>\n

At the 400-meter mark,\u00a0Garufa Mask\u00a0held the lead, having put distance on\u00a0Bluclette Rim, but\u00a0Talented Hit\u00a0was already surging powerfully, taking control and pulling clear by a length over his courageous rival. Another 1 1\/2 lengths back,\u00a0Mr Versace\u00a0(Fortify, 128 lbs) finished third, showing signs of a return to form. The final time was 1:21.69.<\/p>\n

The biggest disappointment came from\u00a0Holy Joy\u00a0(Fortify, 128 lbs), the G1 winner making his return after a lengthy layoff, finishing eighth and second-to-last, nearly 12 lengths behind the winner. If no physical issues were involved, a rematch might be in store, perhaps on the Palermo dirt \u2014 where he previously won the 2024 Montevideo (G1) and Can\u00e9 (G2).<\/p>\n
