{"id":584665,"date":"2026-05-15T02:07:28","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T02:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/584665\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T02:07:28","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T02:07:28","slug":"canary-cult-hero-klose-lands-youth-management-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/584665\/","title":{"rendered":"Canary cult hero Klose lands youth management role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The Canary cult hero has been appointed head coach of the Swiss outfit\u2019s Under-17s, having previously served as head of training and defensive coordinator at the club.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Within that role, Klose was described as \u2018the interface between talent management and the club\u2019s holistic youth training philosophy\u2019, primarily providing specialist defensive coaching across academy sides from Under-14s to Under-21s.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This new promotion marks the 17-time Switzerland international\u2019s first managerial role at the club where he both started and ended his playing career.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Timm Klose made 17 appearances for Switzerland (Image: PA)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  FC Basel U17s finished second in the Swiss U17 Elite League last season under the stewardship of Nikola Marunic, two points behind champions Grasshoppers, and Klose\u2019s appointment is one of several changes within the youth structure ahead of the new campaign.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  His predecessor, Marunic, has moved up to manage the U19s, while the former U19 coach, Patrik Baumann, has stepped up to Under-21 level.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Klose\u2019s transition into management should come as little surprise, having revealed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinkun.com\/sport\/interviews\/24736486.timm-klose-retirement-city-connection-ipswich-header\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">2024 Pink Un interview<\/a> following his retirement that he was already preparing for the next step after his playing career.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I decided a long time ago. When I was\u00a0at Norwich, I studied sports management on the side; when I was at\u00a0Bristol, I started my coaching badges.
