If you\u2019re a horror fan who gets a kick out of a good twist, this 2000s Nicole Kidman<\/a> film is right up your street.<\/p>\n Starring Oscar-winning Australian-American actress Kidman<\/a>, 58<\/a>, in the lead role of Grace, The Others is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video<\/a>, following a woman living on a family estate in the Channel Islands with her two photosensitive children.<\/p>\n Set during World War II, Grace is awaiting news on her missing husband while attempting to protect her children from harm by the sun due to their rare disease.<\/p>\n Things take a sinister turn, however, when Grace\u2019s mother, Anne (Alakina Mann), claims she is seeing ghosts, and while Grace initially brushes the spookiness off as their staff playing tricks, she soon comes to realise something far more menacing is at play.<\/p>\n The 2001 supernatural flick is famous for its huge plot twist, which viewers have long branded one of the best in cinema.<\/p>\n Thanks to its cast\u2019s performances and gripping story, The Others was a box office smash, grossing $210million (\u00a3182m) worldwide on a $17m (14.7m) budget.<\/p>\n \t\t It was lauded by critics, earning 15 nominations and eight wins at the 16th Goya Awards, and becoming the first English-language film without a word of Spanish dialogue to triumph in the best film category at Spain\u2019s Goya Awards.<\/p>\n Kidman was also recognised in other best actress categories for her role, including at the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n Ultimately, the Alejandro Amen\u00e1bar-directed horror is highly regarded as not just one of the 2000s\u2019 best movies but, for many, the greatest horror ever made.<\/p>\n As for what fans have had to say, The Others, which was shot in northern Spain, has a respectable 77% audience score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as well as 84% from critics.<\/p>\n Among the 250,000+ reviews, user Ry H branded it with 4.5 stars as recently as July 2025, writing: \u2018My favorite horror movie ever with one of the biggest twists that I never saw coming.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018The Others lives up to the unpredictability hype, you can\u2019t guess what\u2019s happening. The characters are incredibly well-written. Their decisions, the plot makes sense until everything gets a new meaning\u2019, writes Mate P.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018Has to be the best suspense movie of all time, period. The acting and filming are fantastic\u2019, echoes Josh K.<\/p>\n Julian S agrees: \u2018THE OTHERS finds Kidman at her most mesmerizing, carrying a chilling slow-burn thriller that builds to a twist so sharp, it leaves you breathless.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018This one still holds up as one of the great supernatural thrillers.
