{"id":586095,"date":"2026-05-15T20:27:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T20:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/586095\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T20:27:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T20:27:08","slug":"residents-concerned-for-afon-kenfig-river-following-sewage-leak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/586095\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents concerned for Afon Kenfig river following sewage leak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Residents have this week reported grey sewage deposits and a strong smell of sewage at the river, close to the Kenfig Nature Reserve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Fisherman Stuart Mears said he believed sewage had been going into the river for many months, and that it had been &#8220;absolutely devastated&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The river is now devoid of life. All the fish and invertebrates have died from the pumping station downwards and a lot of the bank-side creatures have left the area as well,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This has affected around two to three miles of the river down to the sea.
