Wales scrum-half Gareth Davies has signed a new deal with the Scarlets<\/a> ahead of next season.<\/p>\n The 35-year-old has committed to a 19th season with his home club, having made his debut in 2009. Since then, the scrum-half has gone on to become a regular for the Scarlets – playing 281 times for the west Walians.<\/p>\n During the last two decades, Davies has crossed for 77 tries for the club – becoming the leading Welsh try-scorer in the history of the United Rugby Championship.<\/p>\n He has also won 77 caps for Wales before calling time on his Test career in 2024.<\/p>\n During his time with Wales, he played in three World Cups – famously scoring against England in the 2015 World Cup at Twickenham.<\/p>\n Davies has won two Six Nations<\/a> titles, including a Grand Slam in 2021, while he was a part of two British and Irish Lions tours.<\/p>\n Having been called up as injury cover in New Zealand in 2017, he toured as a member of the original party in South Africa four years later.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really happy to have re-signed,” said Davies after penning a new deal with the Scarlets. “I still feel good physically, I still love playing for this club and I still feel I have a lot to offer.<\/p>\n \u201cThis place means a huge amount to me. I\u2019ve spent my whole professional career here, shared some unbelievable memories with team-mates, staff and supporters and I\u2019m excited to be in the heart of it for another season.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a lot of exciting talent coming through the squad and I\u2019m enjoying being part of that environment. Latest news, analysis and much more<\/a><\/p>\n Davies has been used more sparingly by the Scarlets this season, featuring in just 10 matches.<\/p>\n However, the news he will stick around for another season is a boost for the club after a difficult year.<\/p>\n \u201cGareth represents so much of what this club is about,” said Scarlets interim director of rugby Nigel Davies.<\/p>\n \u201cI still remember him coming into the environment as a 17-year-old kid with unbelievable pace, confidence and energy. Even back then, there was something different about him. He had an instinct for the game that you can\u2019t coach.<\/p>\n \u201cTo now see him going into a 19th season at his home club says everything about his character, his professionalism and his love for the Scarlets.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat has impressed me most this season is that his competitiveness and hunger are still absolutely there. He still wants to drive standards, still wants to compete and still has the ability to produce moments that change games.<\/p>\n \u201cPlayers like Gareth are hugely important because they connect different generations of Scarlets teams and players.
