\n\tAs Avatar<\/a> fans await the fourth and fifth titles in the franchise, James Cameron<\/a> is mapping out a more efficient route to Pandora.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 3x Oscar winner recently gave an update on the next two upcoming entries in the franchise following last year\u2019s Avatar: Fire and Ash, noting that he\u2019s working on a way to make the movies \u201cin half the time for two thirds of the cost\u201d it took to make the previous entries, including Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAfter that, I\u2019m like Roadrunner going off a cliff,\u201d he said on The Empire Film Podcast<\/a> about what\u2019s in store after Billie Eilish \u2014 Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D). \u201cI\u2019ll be doing some writing, I\u2019ve got a number of projects I\u2019m cooking. And Avatar 4<\/a> and 5 are still floating out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCameron continued, \u201cWe\u2019re gonna be looking at some new technologies to try and do them more efficiently, because they\u2019re hideously expensive and take a long time. I want to do them in half the time for two thirds of the cost, that\u2019s my metric. And so, it\u2019s going to take us a year or so to figure out how to do that. And in the meantime, I\u2019ll be writing and probably be doing a couple of other things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe creator of the $987M franchise previously noted that he will \u201chold a press conference<\/a>\u201d if he decides not to continue the Avatar movies, adding, \u201cI don\u2019t know if the saga goes beyond this point. I hope it does. But, you know, we prove that business case every time we go out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCameron also noted that, despite there being \u201cno business model for it anymore,\u201d he also wants to novelize the films, noting \u201cit might be good to have the canonical record of what it was all supposed to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
