3<\/p>\n Riera has been sacked by Frankfurt after just three months as managerCredit: Getty<\/p>\n Riera, who was appointed on a two-and-a-half-year deal<\/a> in February, failed to secure European qualification for the club that started the season in the Champions League.<\/p>\n It is the first time since 2020 that Frankfurt have missed out on a continental campaign.<\/p>\n The 44-year-old won four of his 14 league matches in charge as well as drawing five and losing five.<\/p>\n Those results saw Frankfurt<\/a> finish the season in eighth place, three points adrift of a European place.<\/p>\n READ MORE IN FOOTBALLFrankfurt statement<\/p>\n The Bundesliga club subsequently announced Riera’s departure on Sunday along with assistant managers Pablo Remon Arteta and Lorenzo Dolcetti.<\/p>\n In a post on X, the club said: “Eintracht Frankfurt and head coach Albert Riera, as well as assistant coaches Pablo Remon Arteta and Lorenzo Dolcetti, have mutually agreed, effective immediately, to end their collaboration.<\/p>\n “We wish all three the very best for their private and professional futures alike.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Riera also spoke to the club’s media channels<\/a> following his exit.<\/p>\n The former Spain winger explained: “The club and I mutually agreed to end our collaboration.<\/p>\n “As coach, I take responsibility for the sporting results, and my sole focus during this time was on improving the team and making it successful.<\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n Riera had penned a deal through until the summer of 2028 back in FebruaryCredit: Getty<\/p>\n “I felt I had to protect the club and the players, and I would act the same way again in a heartbeat.<\/p>\n “I was convinced that this was necessary to keep the focus entirely on sporting success.
