Filip Hrgovic took just three rounds to stop Dave Allen last night in Doncaster, potentially setting up a clash with rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma.<\/p>\n

Allen\u2019s corner threw in the towel after close to nine minutes of straight punishment, giving Hrgovic the 20th victory of his career. Post-fight, \u2018El Animal\u2019 confirmed that he is interested in taking on Itauma next, and promoter George Warren said clearly that he would be looking to finalise that fight this week.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking on his YouTube channel<\/a> the morning after, Allen detailed how \u2018sore\u2019 he was from the three rounds, and had nothing but praise for the Croatian.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was really good, to be honest. He was big, you know. We weighed the same, but he was big \u2026 He\u2019s not a huge puncher, not massively powerful, I don\u2019t think he could\u2019ve knocked me out, but he\u2019s really good. He kept catching me on the back of the head \u2013 no complaints, I was trying to duck and slide around it \u2013 but it wasn\u2019t an illegal punch.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s fast, he lets his shots go \u2026 He\u2019s just busy as f**k. I don\u2019t need that at my age \u2013 he and [Luis] Ortiz are the best two [I\u2019ve faced]. I\u2019m a decent fighter, probably not as good as I was, and I do think six, seven years ago I could\u2019ve gone ten. I wouldn\u2019t have beaten him in a million years.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Doncaster man did not give a prediction for the Itauma match-up, but hinted that there may aspects of Hrgovic\u2019s game to exploit.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he boxes Itauma\u2026 I don\u2019t know, you know. I\u2019m not sure. He\u2019s good. He\u2019s there to be hit, but he does that much punching, it\u2019s hard to get one off on him. I felt like he would\u2019ve slowed down, but for my style and ability, I\u2019d have taken way too much to get him there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Itauma\u2019s headline slot is booked for August 8 in London<\/a>, so all eyes now turn to Hrgovic and whether or not he feels fit enough \u2013 and is not hampered by the cut he suffered \u2013 to go again in less than three months.<\/p>\n

If the contracts can be signed, many feel that Hrgovic can be the man to finally take Itauma into deeper waters.
