Panorama to air MAFS investigation about sexual assault allegations\"MAFS<\/p>\n

MAFS is one of Channel 4’s biggest hits in recent years<\/p>\n

Channel 4 series Married At First Sight<\/a> is the subject of a new BBC1<\/a> Panorama investigation involving sexual assault allegations. An episode of the award-winning documentary series called The Dark Side of Married at First Sight is due to air tonight at 8pm.<\/p>\n

As first reported by the industry magazine Broadcast, The Panorama is fronted by BBC<\/a> News culture correspondent Noor Nanji. As part of her investigation she has spoken to three women alleging sexual misconduct by their former on-screen husbands.<\/p>\n

The identity of the men and women are at the centre of the investigation are not known at this stage.<\/p>\n

But in its programme description, the BBC said that the men involved deny all the allegations against them. Channel 4<\/a> and CPL Productions, the indie that makes the show, described the show\u2019s welfare procedures as \u201crobust and comprehensive\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the BBC website the programme information also states: \u201cPanorama investigates allegations that raise serious concerns that welfare procedures on the reality show have failed contributors, leaving them at risk of harm.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement when approached by the Mirror<\/a>, Channel 4 said: \u201cWe have not seen the programme and will comment when we know more.\u201d<\/p>\n

MAFS is one of the channel\u2019s biggest and most successful series. It sees strangers matched together and they then walk down the aisle and hold a mock wedding before getting to know each other and living together in the hope of finding love.<\/p>\n

Having started in Denmark in 2013, the format is so successful there are now 35 versions around the world<\/a>. On Channel 4 it regularly attracts audiences of over one million viewers.<\/p>\n
