Police officers were injured during \u201cunacceptable and violent\u201d disorder from a group of youths after an electric bike was seized in Aberdeen.<\/p>\n

During the traffic stop at Bryon Square at around 9.15pm on Sunday, officers faced significant antisocial behaviour from a large group after the illegal vehicle was stopped.<\/p>\n

A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection. The bike was seized and he is expected to appear at court at a later date.<\/p>\n

A recorded warning was also issued to an 18-year-old man in connection with shoplifting from a nearby premises.<\/p>\n

During the incident, a large group of youths gathered, and two officers were assaulted, and a police car was vandalised.<\/p>\n

Police have said that enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved in the disorder.<\/p>\n

Chief Inspector Vicky Stables said: \u201cThis violent and antisocial conduct towards police is completely unacceptable.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur officers must be kept safe when doing their job and I\u2019d like to thank them for their professionalism in the face of such disorder in our local community. Rest assured that enquiries are ongoing to identify and deal with the youths involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt shouldn\u2019t be forgotten that this incident began with the stopping of an illegal electric bike. The use of these vehicles poses a serious risk to the public and their continued antisocial use will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperation Armour is our ongoing initiative to disrupt the illegal use of electric bikes and associated criminality, and we urge the public to contact Police on 101 if you have any information that could assist us.\u201d<\/p>\n
