Being rich has never done Donald Trump<\/a> any harm with his base. If anything, it\u2019s done the opposite. Trump doesn\u2019t look elitist, snooty or out of touch to the Maga<\/a> crowd. That image relies, however, on Trump\u2019s supporters believing that the President is also making it easier for them to get rich, too. Man injured in privately owned enclosure, police say<\/p>\n

A 72-year-old man was injured by a tiger near Leipzig yesterday, prompting police to shoot the escaped animal to prevent further risk to the public. <\/p>\n

The man was one of the tiger\u2019s keepers and it appears to have run out of its enclosure after attacking him. <\/p>\n

They also promised to deport 288,000 \u201cillegal migrants\u201d in the election campaign, though it is unclear who exactly they mean.<\/p>\n

Putting your feet up is all very well, but it\u2019s very boring, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

In the last two years alone, Attenborough has done voiceovers on a number of projects, including\u00a0Wild London,\u00a0and a National Geographic Disney film,\u00a0Ocean.<\/p>\n

Although his workload has remained high, he did acknowledge in 2017, that as he ages, he sometimes finds it harder to recall correct words as quickly as he did before. <\/p>\n

Improving his diet<\/p>\n

In his 90s, Attenborough has cut back on red meat, and begun eating an increasingly vegetarian diet.<\/p>\n

Whether as he said, he \u201csimply lost the taste\u201d for meat, or whether it was an environmental or health reason, the NHS advises that eating a lot of red and processed meat increases your bowel cancer risk at any age.<\/p>\n

Attenborough has previously said he has \u201cnever done exercise\u201d in an official capacity.<\/p>\n

But he has\u00a0kept active by going for walks in Richmond, where he lives.<\/p>\n

Interviewers who have been to his home have also mentioned him practically skipping down the stairs of his house. <\/p>\n

Thanks in part to somewhat rose-tinted recollections of Trump\u2019s first term, they thought a billionaire president would be better for their own bottom line. So far, that\u2019s spectacularly failed to materialise.<\/p>\n

Inflation in the US is soaring, in large part as a direct consequence of Trump\u2019s disastrous war on Iran<\/a>. That\u2019s already showing up in prices at the pump \u2013 something Americans are very sensitive about<\/a> \u2013 but will only get worse in months to come as the cost of food and other essentials spikes. Trump is not delivering on his half of the deal.<\/p>\n

Against that backdrop, Trump\u2019s personal wealth could rapidly shift from serving as a political asset to a liability, especially if it looks like the President is enriching himself at the voters\u2019 expense. That\u2019s why the President\u2019s latest financial disclosures, released last week, could come at a bad time for Trump, just six months before crucial midterm elections.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s opponents have been aware of his self-enrichment and questionable dealing for years, but as it gets more blatant, even his own supporters may find it impossible to overlook.<\/p>\n

Details within the disclosures, which showed thousands of transactions in the first quarter of the year alone, are hard to ignore. Trump has bought millions of dollars in tech stocks, including Oracle, Nvidia and Meta \u2013 all companies his administration has made deals with or changed regulations to seemingly help. He has bought stock in data analytics company\u00a0Palantir<\/a>, even as the Department of Defence gave it massive contracts.<\/p>\n

Most blatantly, Trump\u2019s disclosures show he bought millions of dollars worth of Boeing<\/a> stock in the weeks before his state visit to Beijing last week, where he announced a deal to sell 200 Boeing planes<\/a> to China.<\/p>\n

The US public is well-aware that some congressional representatives \u2013 who, like the President, are effectively immune to the insider-trading rules that govern other Americans \u2013 have got rich by trading stocks of companies they regulate. They hate that.<\/p>\n

For Maga, this was part of draining the swamp, which Trump repeatedly promised to do in his first term.<\/p>\n

But the sense of grift around the Trump presidency<\/a> is now closing in ever closer to the President himself.<\/p>\n

Jared Kushner<\/a>, Trump\u2019s son-in-law, holds no formal role in the administration but has been serving as the President\u2019s unofficial envoy in the Middle East \u2013 while doing private deals alongside it the whole time. Trump\u2019s family businesses have been investing in crypto businesses and other enterprises, making use of the President\u2019s name and brand.<\/p>\n

And there are wide suspicions \u2013 backed up by reporting on trading patterns \u2013 that those in the President\u2019s orbit are using advanced knowledge of his announcements to place bets<\/a> on prediction markets.<\/p>\n

Trump is vanishingly unlikely to face any kind of legal consequence for his own business dealings, even if they were found to be in violation of any US laws. The Supreme Court granted the president near-total immunity from regular prosecution, while impeachment needs a two-thirds majority of the Senate to pass, which is next-to-impossible in practical terms.<\/p>\n

But the court of public opinion<\/a> is a different matter., especially at a time when Trump is looking increasingly disconnected from regular voters.<\/p>\n

Affordability<\/a> is the number one issue for most Americans, but Trump seems woefully detached from that. He routinely complains about how difficult it is to build his $400m (\u00a3298m) White House ballroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last week, when asked by a reporter if he felt pressured by the economic situation many Americans are experiencing to reach a deal with Iran to end the war, Trump gave a startling answer. \u201cNot even a little bit,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think about Americans\u2019 financial situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even if true, this is not something you\u2019re supposed to admit as an elected official.<\/p>\n

US voters have shown time and again that they are happy to turn a blind eye to Trump\u2019s wealth and controversies, so long as he delivered for them. Increasingly, he\u2019s failed to do that even as his own efforts at self-enrichment become ever-more blatant.<\/p>\n

With the midterms just months away<\/a>, Trump could soon find that their patience has run out.<\/p>\n
