Philbin addresses his Warrington Wolves future

However, he insists he remains relaxed about his long-term future as his Warrington Wolves contract nears its end.

Barring loan spells, the prop forward has spent his entire professional career with The Wire and recently made his 250th appearance for the club having debuted back in 2014.

His current deal at The Halliwell Jones Stadium expires at the end of this year and the Warringtonian, who will be 32 by the time the 2027 season begins, admits his future is still up in the air.

“I’ll let things take care of themselves,” he said.

“I’ll do everything I can while I’m on the field – I’m reasonably happy with how I’m playing barring the Catalans game.

“What will be will be – I’ve loved my time here and if I end up going elsewhere, I’d leave with nothing but great memories and relationships.

“At the minute, I’m not too sure.”

Whether he is sticking around or not, however, the importance of performing at his best on a weekly basis is not lost on Philbin.

He has featured in all but one of The Wire’s games so far this season as a mainstay of a middle unit that has seen plenty of change and fluctuations.

The likes of Luke Yates, James Harrison, Jordy Crowther and Toafofoa Sipley have all spent time in the treatment room, which has presented opportunities to the likes of Luke Thomas and Max Wood.

The young duo have been knocking at the first-team door and moving forward, Philbin says the club’s pack will be in good hands with them.

“There’s so much competition for places, but it’s healthy and we all challenge each other,” he said.

“Thommo and Max – they’re ready to be week in, week out middles.

“I’m excited to see them grow and for me, zooming out, I’m excited to watch their careers because I rate them both very highly.

“Warrington’s in a good spot for the future with those two, which is great for me as a Warrington fan.”

But as Thomas and Wood make their way in the game, Philbin is fostering a partnership with another man who has more experience behind him.

Since Sipley arrived at the club from NRL side Manly Sea Eagles, he and Philbin have been charged with being a point of difference from the interchange bench.

“We’ve made a little bit of a pact with each other,” Philbin said of his relationship with Sipley.

“We see ourselves as energisers so we want to bring that to the team when we get out there.

“I love coming on with Toff – he’s been there and done it all over in the NRL and he’s been a breath of fresh air to the place as a person.

“Then when he’s on the field, he’s scattering defences and everyone wants to get the carry after his.

“He’s the kind of player I love playing with.”

However, he insists he remains relaxed about
