Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund assist-king Julian Ryerson, but any deal will depend on the exit of a Red Devils star, according to Sky Sports.

Man United can now start preparing for a big summer transfer window with the potential aim of seeing if they can seal any deals before the 2026 World Cup begins on June 11, in order to have some players ready for pre-season.

Their top midfield target, Elliot Anderson, for example, is likely to be going to the tournament with England, as will other reported targets like Portugal’s Rafael Leao, the Three Lions’ Morgan Rogers, and France’s Aurelien Tchouameni.

Another player who is likely to be on his way to North America is Norway international Ryerson, with his nation facing group games against Iraq, Senegal and France.

First, United need to confirm the appointment of Michael Carrick as their next permanent manager, which is expected soon after the 44-year-old proved his credentials having taken caretaker charge at the beginning of 2026.

With Champions League football secured and a financial boost for the club sealed as a result, the Red Devils could look at strengthening multiple positions across the team, even if central midfield is the main priority.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United hold an interest in Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson as they look to sign a back-up player to Diogo Dalot, who they say has established himself this season.

The 28-year-old is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League, but he remains under contract with the Bundesliga outfit until 2028.

Because Dortmund are very happy with the full-back, there is no price tag set for his sale, although Sky report that it’s expected he would command a fee of more than €30m.

The Norwegian has 24 assists and seven goals in 143 appearances in total for Dortmund following a move from Union Berlin in 2023, but remarkably 18 of those assists have come in just 42 outings this term.

United Signing Ryerson Depends on Noussair Mazraoui

"noussair

The report adds that any potential deal for United to sign Ryerson this summer depends on former Bayern Munich star Noussair Mazraoui.

With Dalot the favoured option at right-back, the Red Devils could look to Ryerson if Mazraoui leaves Old Trafford this summer.

The Morocco international was a favourite of previous United boss Ruben Amorim, but he has found starts and minutes harder to come by under Carrick, with the Red Devils in such good form with Dalot in the XI.

Mazraoui has featured at centre-back before, including in the win at Chelsea when Ayden Heaven was the only fit senior centre-half available, but he showed his ability as the Carrick’s side kept a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge.

The issue for Mazraoui is that he has Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Heaven ahead of him in the pecking order, and he may seek pastures new to secure regular first-team football again for the 2026-27 campaign.

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund assist-king Julian Ryerson, but any deal will depend…

[33
218,101,56,54,55
post-593103","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-football","tag-football","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
