Image via WestEnd<\/p>\n<p>A first look has been revealed at a new horror film starring Eliza Scanlen and Essie Davies, now filming in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Unspeakable, a horror feature from filmmaker Corinna Faith, is backed by Ffilm Cymru with funding from the Welsh Government through Creative Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The story centres on a young mother who is struggling to connect with her newborn baby, but is too ashamed and exhausted to seek help.<\/p>\n<p>She is subsequently stalked by a creature drawn to mothers in distress, sparking a battle with the ancient, supernatural force.<\/p>\n<p>Joining the cast comprising Australian actresses Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects) and Essie Davies (The Babadook), are Susannah Doyle, Sky Yang, and Nicholas Kwoon-Kit Lo Wang.<\/p>\n<p>Director Corinna Faith previously worked on The Power, another horror, set in 1974 during electricity rationing.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/filmmakermagazine.com\/111555-she-can-only-function-in-the-dark-writer-director-corinna-faith-on-her-female-led-70s-set-ghost-story-the-power\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Film Maker Magazine<\/a> after The Power\u2019s release, Corinna, who had worked for 16 years in television, as well as creating documentary and fiction shorts, revealed she \u201cwasn\u2019t very happy in factual TV in the end\u201d, and thanks to a BAFTA nomination was able to make the move to feature films.<\/p>\n<p>Louise Ortega, an executive producer on Unspeakable who also worked with Corinna on The Power, said: \u201cWith Unspeakable, Corinna has woven a raw, visceral and primally feminine cinematic horror, and, alongside her producers Rob and Tristan, assembled an exciting team of collaborators to realise her vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Co-producing on Unspeakable are Elwen Rowlands and Celine Coulson from Cardiff\u2019s Little Door Productions, previously working on Under Salt Marsh and The Pact.<\/p>\n<p>Executive producers include Kiah Simpson and Kim Warner for Ffilm Cymru Wales.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westendfilms.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">More information about WestEnd Films is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for Unspeakable has been provided by the BFI and Ffilm Cymru Wales, with additional financing from London-based US-UK Sons of Rigor Films and US financier MacPac Entertainment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Unspeakable.
