It\u2019s been a while since we\u2019ve heard any details about The Adventures of Tintin<\/a> sequel, but Peter Jackson <\/a>has now shared an exciting update that sheds some light on where the story is headed. <\/p>\n

Not only is the movie actively being written, but Jackson also confirmed exactly how the sequel connects to the original film.<\/p>\n

While speaking during interviews at the Cannes Film Festival, Jackson revealed that the sequel will begin right where the first movie left off. That tease should instantly grab the attention of fans who loved the adventurous ending Spielberg set up back in 2011.<\/p>\n

Jackson also said <\/a>that the project is very much alive and moving forward with Fran Walsh helping write the screenplay.<\/p>\n

Discussing the current status of the script in an interview with IndieWire, Jackson explained: \u201cLiterally, I\u2019m in the hotel room down the road writing the script and sending pages to New Zealand.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to say: \u201cI haven\u2019t written anything in the last two days because I\u2019ve been busy. But tomorrow I\u2019ll get back to the draft and do some more pages.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s probably the most encouraging update Tintin fans have received in years. The sequel has spent a long time floating in development limbo, with occasional comments from Spielberg and Jackson reassuring everyone that it hadn\u2019t been abandoned. Now it sounds like real momentum is finally building.<\/p>\n

Jackson also talked about how the creative process with Spielberg will work once the screenplay draft is complete, saying: \u201cFran [Walsh] and I are writing the script. And we\u2019ll get a draft done, which we\u2019ll send to Steven.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI think he\u2019ll have notes for sure, but we\u2019ll go backwards and forwards until we have a script that we like. At that point we\u2019ll let everyone know what the books are.\u201d<\/p>\n

The original movie pulled material from several classic adventures including The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham\u2019s Treasure. Fans have spent years speculating about what storyline could come next.<\/p>\n

But Jackson did offer one very important detail about the sequel\u2019s setup: \u201cAll I\u2019ll say now is that it begins \u2014 it\u2019s not the way that it carries on \u2014 but it begins exactly where the last film ends,\u201d<\/p>\n

That ending teased a brand-new adventure involving the treasure hunt tied to Rackham\u2019s fortune, so it\u2019ll be interesting to see how directly the sequel follows through on that setup before branching into new territory.<\/p>\n

Jackson had previously described the sequel as \u201can active real thing,\u201d and this latest update finally makes the project feel genuinely close to becoming reality.<\/p>\n

At this point, fans just want to see Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock back together for another globe-trotting animated adventure.
