The US tech behemoth said on Wednesday that profit soared to $58.3bn for the February-April period, up 37 percent from the previous quarter and more than 200 percent year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Revenue jumped to $81.6bn, up 20 percent from the prior quarter and 85 percent compared with the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n
Nvidia forecast revenue for the current quarter to hit $91bn, more than most analysts\u2019 estimates.<\/p>\n
Nvidia\u2019s data-centre business was the main driver of growth, with quarterly revenue surging 92 percent year-on-year to $75.2bn.<\/p>\n
The Santa Clara, California-based chip giant\u2019s hardware unit racked up revenue of $6.4bn, up 29 percent from the previous year.<\/p>\n
In a\u00a0sweetener\u00a0for shareholders, the world\u2019s most valuable company said it would\u00a0buy back an\u00a0additional\u00a0$80bn\u00a0in\u00a0shares\u00a0and raise its\u00a0quarterly cash dividend from\u00a0$0.01 a share to\u00a0$0.25 per share.<\/p>\n
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang\u00a0hailed the \u201cextraordinary\u201d results as\u00a0proof\u00a0of the growing\u00a0utility\u00a0of AI.<\/p>\n
\u201cDemand has gone parabolic,\u201d Huang said in\u00a0a conference\u00a0call\u00a0with investors and\u00a0analysts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason is simple. Agentic AI has arrived,\u201d Huang said, referring to the advent of semi-autonomous AI models.<\/p>\n
\u201cAI can now do productive and valuable work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite\u00a0once again blasting past analysts\u2019 expectations,\u00a0Nvidia\u2019s latest results received a muted\u00a0market\u00a0response.<\/p>\n
Shares in Nvidia fell nearly 1.3 percent in after-hours trading, an indication of the sky-high expectations attached to a company whose blistering growth since 2022 has lifted its market capitalisation to more than $5 trillion.<\/p>\n
Nvidia\u2019s spectacular rise and the sky-high valuations of other tech giants, such as Microsoft and Amazon, have stirred discussion about whether AI is overhyped and creating a massive market bubble.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cExpectations are very high, and when a company like Nvidia has been doing as well as it has for so long, it takes a lot for people to get excited,\u201d Jay Goldberg, a senior analyst for semiconductors and electronics at Seaport Research, told Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s just kind of the nature of Wall Street.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAll these stocks have run a lot this year, but a lot of it is driven by press releases,\u201d Goldberg said, adding that tech firms have yet to demonstrate a \u201cbroad-based consumer case\u201d for AI.<\/p>\n
William Rhind, the CEO and founder of New York-based investment firm\u00a0GraniteShares, said\u00a0the muted reaction showed that\u00a0expectations had \u201ccaught up to fundamentals.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNvidia is no longer beating a high bar\u00a0\u2013\u00a0it is the bar,\u201d Rhind told Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n
Rhind said the bullish case for Nvidia nonetheless remains strong, pointing to the dividend hike and share buyback scheme as signs of a company with \u201cmore cash than it can possibly redeploy into the business\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the marginal use of capital starts shifting toward buybacks and dividends, you\u2019re watching a hypergrowth story begin to mature in real time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s not bearish\u00a0\u2013\u00a0it\u2019s a different kind of bullish.\u201d<\/p>\n
John Belton, a portfolio manager at Gabelli Funds, said Nvidia\u2019s latest results should not \u201cdramatically shift the story one way or the other\u201d.<\/p>\n
