A record store in Altrincham was left star-struck when Ian Brown popped into their shop today<\/p>\n

Stone Roses star Ian Brown was spotted paying a surprise visit to the Altrincham<\/a> record store Tasty Records today, May 21.<\/p>\n

The musician and lead singer of the iconic Manchester band ‘popped into’ the shop in Trafford<\/a> this afternoon ahead of the Manichester tribute event for his late bandmate Gary “Mani<\/a>” Mounfield later this month.<\/p>\n

Posting about the visit on Instagram, the record store said that Ian, who grew up in Timperley, came into the shop today and asked them if they wanted anything signed before jokingly asking if they can get an instore session from him ‘next time he visits’.<\/p>\n

The post shows Ian holding up a signed copy of the Stone Roses’ debut album – something that the store says it might sell for ‘a reet good offer’.<\/p>\n

It said: “Not every day a stone cold Manchester legend pops in the shop and asks if you want him to sign anything.<\/p>\n

“Pleasure to meet you @ianbrown – glad you\u2019re finally getting royalties for this 10\/10 masterpiece\u2026 instore session next time? We might even sell this signed copy but you\u2019ll have to put in a reet good offer.”<\/p>\n

It comes as a host of Manchester music stars are preparing to take part in the huge one-day tribute concert to “Mani” at Manchester’s Diecast venue on Saturday, May 30. Much-loved musician Mani sadly died aged 63 in November last year.<\/p>\n

The sold out gig will pay tribute to Mani’s legacy in both life and music, while raising money for his teenage twin sons. Organisers announced earlier today<\/a> that one of Mani’s favourite bands, the reunited Manchester rockers Puressence<\/a>, have joined the bill at the personal request of his family.<\/p>\n

Ian paid tribute to his friend and bandmate “Mani”<\/a> at his funeral service in December last year, saying: “we’ll never fill the Mani-sized hole we’re left with”.<\/p>\n

He said: “I first met Mani in 1980 when he was known as The Nod. To this day he’s in my phone as Nod. Always flicking his fringe, and always laughing. He was the same kid then as the Mani the world came to know and love.<\/p>\n
