Wales U20s will head off to Georgia next month for the Junior World Championship.<\/p>\n
Richard Whiffin’s side have been drawn in a pool alongside hosts Georgia, reigning champions South Africa and Uruguay.<\/p>\n
Wales finished the U20s Six Nations<\/a> with just one victory against Scotland U20s despite some positive performances early doors.<\/p>\n Here are the Wales U20s players to look out for.<\/p>\n Carwyn Leggatt-Jones<\/p>\n The 18-year-old is a special talent who has been been blooded in the United Rugby Championship for the Scarlets<\/a> this season.<\/p>\n Leggatt-Jones is a triple-threat player and has an extremely high rugby IQ.<\/p>\n It will take time but he is certainly a player worth getting excited for because outside-half is an area where Wales need to create some depth.<\/p>\n The Carmarthen<\/a> teenager can do things other players can only dream of but he needs to find the right balance between when to attack and when to be pragmatic.<\/p>\n Tom Howe<\/p>\n The Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf pupil is considered one of Welsh rugby’s brightest prospects.<\/p>\n Howe is a powerful hooker who is very explosive and is capable of making significant post-contact metres – a trait that is in short supply at senior level.<\/p>\n He is also very strong at the set-piece and is a skilful player who leads from the front.<\/p>\n The 18-year-old has already made his Cardiff<\/a> RFC debut in Super Rygbi Cymru and it is only a matter of time before he breaks into the senior set-up.<\/p>\n Lewis Edwards<\/p>\n The Ospreys<\/a> full-back was named the official Super Rygbi Cymru player of the season for his outstanding form for Swansea<\/a>.<\/p>\n Edwards, who can also play centre, is a very physical player who is strong under the high ball and in defence.<\/p>\n He also hits some strong angles with ball in hand and is an exciting player to watch.<\/p>\n The 19-year-old is very highly rated by the Ospreys and is expected to break through at regional level over the next couple of seasons.<\/p>\n Steffan Emanuel<\/p>\n The 19-year-old centre is a class act and is set for a long career in the professional game.<\/p>\n Emanuel has already impressed for Cardiff in the URC and is arguably the key player for this Wales U20s side.<\/p>\n He is a triple-threat player who is an explosive carrier with an outstanding passing game.<\/p>\n Emanuel also makes good decisions under pressure and is a leading contender to be named Wales U20s captain this summer.<\/p>\n Luke Evans<\/p>\n Size and power are in short supply at senior level in comparison to other tier one nations.<\/p>\n But in the long run Exeter Chiefs second-row Evans is certainly a player who could fit the bill and is a player with significant potential.<\/p>\n At 6ft 8in and 117kg Evans certainly has size on his side and Wales U20s head coach Whiffin saw it as a significant coup when he succeeded in enticing the Llanharan man back from the England U20s set-up.<\/p>\n Of course, Evans still has much to learn but is an excellent lineout forward with a hard edge who relishes the physical confrontations on the pitch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Wales U20s will head off to Georgia next month for the Junior World Championship.
