Wakefern Food Corp. is expanding and enhancing its fresh domestic kosher beef offering for ShopRite stores with kosher meat departments under rabbinical supervision. Through a new direct\u2011sourcing program, select ShopRite locations will now have expanded access to a wider variety of fresh domestic kosher beef\u2014including bone\u2011in and boneless cuts, steaks, roasts and offals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The new program expands Wakefern\u2019s ability to access a reliable, U.S.-sourced supply and increases availability of OU-certified beef that also carries the USDA seal.<\/p>\n
The supermarket cooperative supplies family\u2011operated ShopRite stores and worked directly with family\u2011owned cattle ranches to source quality, domestic beef while operating under OU Glatt certification standards.<\/p>\n
Fluctuations in domestic cattle availability combined with limited domestic kosher processing capacity often make it challenging to meet demand, and many suppliers rely on imported kosher beef. This new program expands Wakefern\u2019s ability to access a reliable, U.S.\u2011sourced supply and significantly increases availability of OU\u2011certified beef that also carries the USDA seal.<\/p>\n
