Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has confirmed that there’s more to come from on-again-off-again soap couple Mercedes McQueen and Warren Fox, despite currently being broken up.

The teaser comes after Hollyoaks producer Hannah Cheers hinted at a big summer for Mercedes in Inside Soap’s summer preview earlier this month, in a “really exciting” storyline that will involve both Warren and his half-brother Jenson Cole.

In an exclusive chat with Inside Soap, Jen revealed that Mercedes and Warren aren’t quite finished with each other yet, despite her relationship with Jenson.

“She’s always going to have a thing for Warren, those two are connected,” Jen reckons. “But they got themselves into a bit of a pickle and she needed to step away.”

Next week, Mercedes and Warren are set to grow closer as she helps Tony Hutchinson out behind the bar at The Dog in the Pond, alongside Warren. Being the former landlady of the pub, Mercedes is immediately right at home.

“It’s like she never left!” laughs Jen. “She thrives on chaos in every element of her life. There’s a big group of rugby lads getting lairy and she thinks, ‘I can do this on my own’, but that’s when Warren offers a helping hand.

“They have this night where it’s just fun and bliss, and I don’t think the audience has seen a lot of that from Mercedes and Warren.”

Despite the sizzling summer drama to come, Jen insists that it’s these more domestic moments between Mercedes and Warren that she hopes to see more of in their future.

“I’d like to see more of that normality between them,” Jen admits. “They could never be boring together! Even if they were making a Sunday dinner, something would happen that’s ridiculous.”
