People can\u2019t stop talking about Joseph Fiennes<\/a> and his uncanny resemblance to Gareth Southgate<\/a> in the BBC<\/a>\u2019s new drama, Dear England<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 55-year-old actor portrays England\u2019s former manager<\/a> in the four-parter, which tells the story of the team under Southgate\u2019s reign, from the highs to the lows.<\/p>\n Co-starring Jodie Whittaker<\/a> as psychologist Pippa Grange and Jason Watkins as former Football Association chairman Greg Dyke, the cast\u2019s physical transformations for the roles are mightily impressive \u2013 seriously, you\u2019ll have to do a double-take.<\/p>\n As well as Dear England, Bafta<\/a>-winning star Fiennes has taken on roles in some of television\u2019s most popular shows, from The Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/a> to American Horror Story. <\/p>\n He\u2019s also been in theatre since the 90s with credits in The Woman in Black, As You Like It, plus the original play of Dear England, as it started out before being adapted for screens.<\/p>\n Away from the bright lights of showbiz, however, he\u2019s well settled with a family \u2013 not to mention five siblings.<\/p>\n \t\t Fiennes married Mar\u00eda Dolores Di\u00e9guez in 2009, tying the knot in Tuscany, Italy, in a Catholic ceremony.<\/p>\n The Swiss actress and model, 44, also has a successful entertainment career, rising to prominence as an international model in the 2000s and by competing in Miss Switzerland<\/a>.<\/p>\n Acting-wise, she\u2019s\u00a0known for Durch die Blume (2004) and Glanz & Gloria (2005).<\/p>\n It\u2019s believed that she and Fiennes met in 2005, with their relationship long-distance between Bern and London for several years.<\/p>\n Then, for a decade, they resided in Mallorca<\/a>, Spain, before moving to London full-time<\/a>, largely due to Brexit\u2026 but things didn\u2019t get off to the smoothest start.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018Within a week of arriving, my wife was mugged, her\u00a0phone<\/a>\u00a0was stolen, my car was taken, the flat we bought went down by 14%, and the kids said, \u201cDad, what are we doing here? It\u2019s raining every day\u201d,\u2019 Fiennes recalled in an interview with\u00a0The Times<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n Having grown up in \u2018abject poverty\u2019 with \u2018struggling and penniless\u2019 parents himself, though, he was keen not to shelter his children from reality.<\/p>\n \u2018It goes back to there being adversity. Yes, I want you to catch the Tube and the bus and understand how to negotiate timetables, the bad\u00a0weather<\/a>, a difficult city, and the\u00a0cost of living<\/a>,\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n \u2018So I won\u2019t be put off by the high taxes or poo in the river or what I call the\u00a0crime<\/a>\u00a0bikes \u2014 the Lime bikes whose riders go around and snatch bags \u2014 because I offset all of that against the extraordinary, diverse wonder and culture.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Fiennes and Di\u00e9guez are proud parents of two daughters named Eva and Isabel.<\/p>\n While living in Spain, their family was surrounded by wildlife in the hills, totally off the grid, and even used their own well.<\/p>\n So, when they relocated to Blighty, it\u2019s unsurprising that there was a cultural shock.<\/p>\n He\u2019s since shared that they have adjusted, though, with one of his kids studying art for GCSE, so he\u2019s taken her to visit museums like the National Portrait Gallery and the V&A, and both now \u2018love\u2019 city life.<\/p>\n But while he\u2019s a hotshot TV and film star, Fiennes is still a dad, at the end of the day, and he has firm rules for his brood \u2013 even though he reckons they make him a \u2018dinosaur\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t He is especially strict when it comes to tech, insisting he doesn\u2019t want his daughters to use their phones in their bedrooms, and he bans social media use entirely after dinner each night.<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019m probably thought of as a dinosaur. And I don\u2019t get any favours at home for being very draconian about it \u2013 you don\u2019t take it to the bedroom; you don\u2019t use it after supper,\u2019 he shared in 2025.<\/p>\n \u2018There are absolutely stringent rules. It is a day-to-day battle and very stressful.\u2019<\/p>\n Who are Joseph Fiennes\u2019 siblings?<\/p>\n The Fiennes family had a nomadic upbringing due to their father, Mark, taking on different jobs to support his family.<\/p>\n Over several years, they moved 14 times while the children grew up, living in parts of Suffolk, Ireland, Wiltshire, and London. <\/p>\n \t\t \t\t And while money was tight, with the kids remembering having to sell things to be able to pay for Christmas, their household was always filled with love.<\/p>\n There is absolutely no denying that the most famous of the bunch is eldest child Ralph Fiennes, 63, who has a Bafta and a Tony to his name and famously played Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise.<\/p>\n While his younger brother doesn\u2019t speak much about the Schindler\u2019s List star publicly, he has made it known that he admires him, previously joking that their family\u2019s creativity derives from a \u2018malformed gene\u2019.<\/p>\n He\u2019s also admitted that he gets mistaken for his big brother, saying in 2017 it happens \u2018occasionally\u2019 due to their physical likeness.<\/p>\n As for their other siblings, younger sister Sophie is a director and producer, while Martha also directs.
