Thousands of members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the United Kingdom and Ireland gathered on Sunday, 24 May 2026, for a special broadcast from the Hyde Park Chapel in London. During the devotional, Elder Quentin L. Cook and Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles invited listeners to strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ to find peace amid an uncertain world.<\/p>\n

Elder Cook: \u2018Find Peace Through Faith in Jesus Christ\u2019<\/p>\n
Elder Quentin L. Cook spoke warmly of his connection to the United Kingdom, recalling with affection his missionary service in England and his deep appreciation for the people of the British Isles. He said being in the UK stirred feelings of gratitude, reflecting on memories that reach back to his youth and helped to shape his life.<\/p>\n
He made special reference to his mother. Her love for the gospel and appreciation for early Church history in Britain helped not only instil in him a lifelong affection for the United Kingdom but also, through her loving example, had a profound impact on his faith in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n
Turning to the challenges of the present day, Elder Cook acknowledged the uncertainty, division and unrest felt throughout the world and shared counsel he had received decades earlier from President Harold B. Lee, then a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He said that counsel remains just as relevant today.<\/p>\n
Echoing President Lee\u2019s teachings, Elder Cook encouraged members to \u201cbuild Zion\u201d in their hearts and homes and to make their homes sanctuaries of faith centred on Jesus Christ. He taught that prayer, scripture study, kindness and devotion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ create spiritual refuge amid turmoil and confusion.<\/p>\n
Elder Cook also repeated President Lee\u2019s invitation to be a \u201clight on the hill\u201d. He encouraged those in attendance to anchor their lives in Jesus Christ and His teachings. \u201cBe somebody whose principles are based on understanding who Jesus Christ is, and what He accomplished, and that He is the Saviour of the world,\u201d Elder Cook said.<\/p>\n
He continued, \u201cIf you can be a \u2018light on the hill,\u2019 if you can be that kind of example, you\u2019ll give courage to other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elder Cook reiterated President Lee\u2019s counsel to prioritise the Temple and the sacred covenants made there. He taught that Temple worship and covenant living provide spiritual strength, eternal perspective and peace amid the uncertainties of the world.<\/p>\n
Throughout his remarks, Elder Cook repeatedly pointed back to Jesus Christ as the source of peace and stability in an unsettled world. He said:<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I had one thing that I hope that you would leave as the main message [today]\u2026 then my counsel to you is: do what you can do to build faith in Jesus Christ. If you want to know Him, the one thing I hope you\u2026 talk about in your homes is: How do we build faith in the Lord Jesus Christ?\u201d<\/p>\n
Drawing on the New Testament account of the woman who touched the hem of the Saviour\u2019s garment, he testified of the power of faith in Jesus Christ to bring healing, comfort and hope.<\/p>\n

Elder Gilbert Teaches the Living Reality of Jesus Christ<\/p>\n
Elder Clark G. Gilbert, who is visiting the United Kingdom for the first time since his call as an Apostle earlier this year, shared a personal witness of Jesus Christ and reflected on the sacred responsibility of Apostles to testify of the Saviour to the world.<\/p>\n
Speaking of his own recent calling to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Gilbert described the profound spiritual impressions he experienced in the days leading up to his call. He recounted accompanying President Dallin H. Oaks during an assignment at Brigham Young University and witnessing the Prophet set aside a prepared address after feeling impressed by the Lord to deliver a different message.<\/p>\n
Elder Gilbert said the experience strengthened his testimony of prophetic revelation and the Lord\u2019s guidance of His Church. Reflecting on his own calling, he spoke of feelings of humility and inadequacy, but also of the spiritual witness that accompanies the calling of an Apostle of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe one unique calling of an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ is to be a witness to the name of Jesus Christ in all the world,\u201d Elder Gilbert said.<\/p>\n
Drawing on The Living Christ, the declaration of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from January 2000, Elder Gilbert testified of the divine mission and living reality of Jesus Christ. He referred to several titles of the Saviour found in the document, including \u201cthe Lamb of God\u201d and \u201cthe King of Kings\u201d.<\/p>\n
Of all the names of the Saviour, Elder Gilbert said the most important for him is found in the title itself: \u201cThe Living Christ\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cJesus Christ lives\u201d, he testified. \u201cHe leads this Church today. He is our Saviour. He is active in the lives of all of us. He is our Saviour, our Redeemer, through Jesus Christ we can be forgiven of our sins\u2026 when life is not fair or it is difficult through no fault of our own, He will come to comfort us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Members Across the UK and Ireland Reflect on Broadcast <\/p>\n
As well as hundreds gathered in the Hyde Park Chapel, members and friends of the Church from across the United Kingdom and Ireland watched the broadcast from their homes and meetinghouses.<\/p>\n
Bethany Couper, who watched the broadcast from her home in Glasgow, Scotland, said she that as she watched she could feel the love Elder Cook and Elder Gilbert have for the Saviour and for members of the Church throughout the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs they spoke, I felt their deep love for our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and their sincere love for each of us,\u201d she said. \u201cI left feeling that the Saviour and His Atonement can become our anchor in times of turmoil and uncertainty.\u201d<\/p>\n
Madison Saville, a young adult from London, said Elder Cook\u2019s invitation to \u201cbuild Zion\u201d in homes and hearts particularly resonated with her while living away from family.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a helpful reminder for me, living far away from family here in London, to build a place of worship here \u2014 not only in my ward, but within my home,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s important to cultivate the Spirit in our homes in a time and world that is often challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n
In Dublin, Ireland, Ray Gunapala said he found Elder Gilbert\u2019s testimony of Jesus Christ \u201cdeeply powerful, reassuring and comforting\u201d and appreciated Elder Cook\u2019s invitation to be a \u201clight on the hill\u201d in a troubled world.<\/p>\n
\u201cI came away feeling that, amidst all the uncertainty and noise in the world, faith in Jesus Christ brings both peace and purpose,\u201d he said. \u201cEven simple acts of goodness, kindness and quiet example can become a light to others.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kimberlee Christensen who also watched the broadcast in Glasgow, Scotland, said she was especially touched by Elder Gilbert\u2019s testimony of the Saviour\u2019s Atonement and Elder Cook\u2019s invitation to be a \u201clight on the hill.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI came away feeling that, amidst all the uncertainty and noise in the world, faith in Jesus Christ brings both peace and purpose,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Beatriz De Sousa, a Young Adult from London, said she appreciated Sister Cook\u2019s invitation to follow the Lord with greater devotion in daily life.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a reminder to me of working in our everyday lives to follow the Lord and bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u2018Walk with the Saviour\u2019 to find Peace in our Homes and Hearts<\/p>\n
Messages shared during the broadcast centred on faith in Jesus Christ, prophetic guidance and faithful discipleship.<\/p>\n
Elder Cook was joined by his wife, Sister Mary Cook, who testified of the Lord\u2019s awareness of His children and encouraged members to draw closer to Jesus Christ through faithful service and daily discipleship. Reflecting on the worldwide nature of the Church, she said it was a blessing to know \u201cthat the Lord is mindful of each one of us\u201d and that all are part of \u201cthis great work of salvation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Referring to the worldwide youth theme for 2026, \u201cWalk with Me\u201d, taken from Moses 6:34, Sister Cook encouraged those in attendance to walk closely with the Saviour.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we walk with the Saviour,\u201d she said, \u201cwe will find the peace we\u2019ve been striving for. We\u2019ll find it in our hearts, [and] we\u2019ll find it in our homes.\u201d<\/p>\n
An Apostles Blessing<\/p>\n
The broadcast concluded with Elder Cook invoking an apostolic blessing upon members and families across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Acknowledging the uncertainty and turmoil present in the world, he blessed listeners that through faith in Jesus Christ they would find personal peace, spiritual strength and greater confidence in the Saviour.<\/p>\n
