{"id":602715,"date":"2026-05-25T08:53:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T08:53:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/602715\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T08:53:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T08:53:09","slug":"essex-filmmakers-making-slasher-movie-on-a-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/602715\/","title":{"rendered":"Essex filmmakers making slasher movie on a budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Greg Day, co-director of Fright Fest, the UK&#8217;s largest horror film festival, fondly remembered Colin (2008), a British zombie film made by Swansea director Marc Price.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It sold 23,000 DVDs, despite Price saying it cost just \u00a345 to make.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;He famously told journalists during the Fright Fest screening in 2009 that all he spent money on was a packet of biscuits and a crowbar,&#8221; said Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Director Martin Scorcese <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/martin-scorsese-raging-bull-vampires\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told GQ magazine, external<\/a> that he was a fan of how Price shot and edited it by himself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It was savage. It took the zombie idea to another level. Very interesting filmmaking.
