Finn Wheelers cyclist Louise Roddy is preparing to take on one of Ireland\u2019s toughest endurance challenges with her beloved brother Ronan in her heart every pedal of the way.<\/p>\n

Louise, who is Deputy Principal at Bruckless NS, is preparing to cycle from Mizen to Malin, covering 661km over five days from 1st-5th July, to raise funds for Donegal Down Syndrome Association, a cause very close to her family.<\/p>\n

Ronan, from Trenamullin, Stranorlar, passed away in January 2023. He was a cherished son, brother, friend and colleague who touched many lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was known and loved by so many people,\u201d Louise said.<\/p>\n

Ronan attended Little Angels School before going on to work in Macs Deli in Letterkenny, where he became a familiar face over more than 26 years.<\/p>\n

Ronan was also a proud and dedicated part of Finn Harps Football Club, where he carried out stewarding duties. He was always willing to help out in the chapel and at local community events, giving his time freely and bringing his trademark smile wherever he went.<\/p>\n

Ronan Roddy will be forever missed by his colleagues and customers at Mac’s Deli Letterkenny<\/p>\n

Those who knew Ronan remember his larger-than-life personality, his constant smile and his great sense of fun.<\/p>\n

He had many passions, including drama, art and running, and he threw himself wholeheartedly into everything he did.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo challenge was ever too big for Ronan,\u201d Louise said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe completed many 5Ks and proudly took part in the Belfast Marathon, something that meant so much to him and was a huge achievement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dedication, training, endurance and commitment he showed proved that nothing was impossible when he set his mind to something.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat spirit is the reason I am taking on this challenge, to honour Ronan\u2019s memory and to carry forward the determination and positivity that he showed every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Louise said the challenge is also a way to thank Donegal Down Syndrome Association.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also want to give something back on Ronan\u2019s behalf to the Donegal Down Syndrome Association for the incredible work they do supporting individuals and families,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery mile cycled will be in memory of Ronan and the remarkable impact he had on all who knew him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny support, no matter how small, would mean so much. Thank you for helping me remember Ronan in this special way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Donegal Down Syndrome Association said they are deeply grateful to Louise for undertaking such a demanding challenge in Ronan\u2019s honour.<\/p>\n

\u201cRonan was a much loved member of Donegal Down Syndrome and someone who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him,” a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRonan lived life with kindness, humour and determination, and he gave so much to the people around him through his work, friendships and involvement in the local community.\u201d<\/p>\n

They added that they will be cheering her on every kilometre of the way in celebration of Ronan’s great spirit.<\/p>\n

\u201cRonan approached everything with commitment, pride and heart. Louise is now carrying that same spirit with her on this incredible journey from Mizen to Malin.<\/p>\n
