A 30-year-old woman has died after being shot outside a bar in a busy area in Sheffield city centre.<\/p>\n
South Yorkshire police have launched a murder investigation after the incident in the early hours of this morning outside the One Four One bar on West Street.<\/p>\n
The woman was found with serious injuries and treated at the scene, before being taken to hospital where she later died.<\/p>\n
Three people were arrested on suspicion of murder and they remain in custody. A 30-year-old man was detained in Sheffield, while another 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were intercepted by police near Stockport in Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n
The woman has not been formally identified but her family have been informed and are being supported by officers.<\/p>\n
Assistant chief constable Colin McFarlane said: \u201cThis is a devastating incident which has resulted in the death of a young woman while on a night out during the bank holiday weekend in Sheffield.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst and foremost, our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew and loved her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur officers have been working extremely hard to piece together the events surrounding the shooting,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile our investigation is in its early stages, we will continue to have a significant presence at the scene in the area today and in the coming days.\u201d<\/p>\n
A stretch of West Street and surrounding roads remain closed while the police investigation continues.<\/p>\n
McFarlane urged people who were in the busy area around West Street and Eldon Street and would have seen what happened to come forward.<\/p>\n
