{"id":605229,"date":"2026-05-26T18:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T18:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/605229\/"},"modified":"2026-05-26T18:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T18:26:08","slug":"six-arrests-in-thanet-bank-holiday-antisocial-behaviour-crackdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/605229\/","title":{"rendered":"Six arrests in Thanet bank holiday antisocial behaviour crackdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Additional patrols were deployed as large crowds gathered, particularly at Viking Bay in Broadstairs, police said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Arrests in Broadstairs included a teenager suspected of assaulting an emergency worker and possession of cannabis, as well as people held for being drunk and disorderly and breaching dispersal orders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In Margate, arrests were made for criminal damage and assault, a racially or religiously aggravated public order offence and an outstanding warrant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Police also detained several people after reports of a disturbance at a fast food restaurant on Margate High Street on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Across the weekend, officers carried out 10 stop searches, with one resulting in cannabis being found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two traffic offence reports were issued as part of wider enforcement activity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Swallow said most visitors were respectful, adding that only &#8220;pockets of incidents&#8221; required intervention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He said a joint approach with councils and businesses helped keep &#8220;crime and disorder\u2026 to an absolute minimum&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Kent Police said it remained committed to tackling antisocial behaviour and would take action against those causing disruption.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Additional patrols were deployed as large crowds gathered, particularly at Viking Bay in Broadstairs, police said.
