Since retiring in 2024, Richie Myler turned his attention from playing to management, and after joining Hull FC recruitment has been one of his key focuses.<\/p>\n

In what is Myler\u2019s first role as a Director, he joined the Black and Whites in April 2024, and in that time he has overseen the signings of 24 players, some of which have proved more successful than others.<\/p>\n

In January 2025, he combined his role as Director of Rugby with the CEO position, and to this day the former Leeds and Warrington man holds both roles within the club.<\/p>\n

As a result, he was tasked with the decision to part ways with boss John Cartwright, something that brought a lot of criticism his way, be that fair or harsh.<\/p>\n

In an interview released on the club\u2019s YouTube Channel after that announcement, Myler explained how the club strived for excellence, with previous higher-ups at the club failing to achieve that and something that factored into the decision to appoint Steve McNamara for 2027.<\/p>\n

Recruitment was another topic that was brought up, with a number of players who have signed picking up injuries, meaning they have not yet, or have failed to, show their full potential in a Black and White jersey.<\/p>\n

However, if you look at the recruits Myler himself has had a hand in bringing in, it\u2019s fair to say that the signings have been far from excellent, with far too many players coming in and not delivering as expected.<\/p>\n

Every Hull FC signing in the Richie Myler era graded<\/p>\n

A \u2013 Zak Hardaker (Leigh Leopards)<\/p>\n

FC\u2019s best signing of the Myler era has undoubtedly been Zak Hardaker. In terms of consistency, leadership and on-field talent, the former Leeds and Wigan man has found some career-best form in Black and White.<\/p>\n

It says a lot that, in the 24 signings since his arrival, only one has been good enough to be graded \u2018A\u2019 \u2013 but of the contingent Hardaker certainly deserves that mantle.<\/p>\n

B+ \u2013 Will Pryce (Newcastle Knights), John Asiata (Leigh Leopards), Connor Bailey (York Knights), James Bell (St Helens)<\/p>\n

Pryce and Asiata could be labelled an A, had they not had so many injuries \u2013 which is a key theme throughout the signings. Asiata\u2019s appearance rate since the start of 2025 is around half, with Pryce down at around a third.<\/p>\n

Bell and Bailey are newbies to the squad, and after recovering from injury, Bell was immense in an underperforming pack, but both he and Bailey have since suffered injuries again.<\/p>\n

B \u2013 Harvie Hill (Wigan Warriors), Sam Lisone (Leeds Rhinos), Arthur Romano (Catalans Dragons), Tom Briscoe (Leigh Leopards)<\/p>\n

Moving on to three signings who have shown promise in their opening few months at the club, Hill, Lisone and Romano have all had glimpses, but the latter two will need to overcome lengthy injuries to show that again.<\/p>\n

Briscoe has been a brilliant addition, and he has executed his role as a back-up three-quarter brilliantly, stepping up when needed and always being a reliable veteran to call upon.<\/p>\n

B- \u2013 Amir Bourouh (Salford), Cade Cust (Salford), Liam Knight (Canterbury Bulldogs), Jake Arthur (Newcastle Knights)<\/p>\n

Hooker Bourouh has been consistent this season in his performances, but needs to find a new level if he is to be considered a top nine in the competition. Cust has moved into the versatile \u201914\u2019 role after he couldn\u2019t quite nail down that starting halves spot.<\/p>\n

Knight came in last season, did a job, but departed earlier this year to move back to Australia. Arthur has shown some signs, but far too often this year he has gone missing in games, particularly at the start of the season in games against York and Wakefield.<\/p>\n

C+ \u2013 Aidan Sezer (Wests Tigers), Jordan Rapana (Canberra Raiders), Joe Batchelor (St Helens)<\/p>\n

Joining ahead of 2025, Sezer brought experience on both sides of the world, but he hasn\u2019t shown that form that often since arriving. The former Leeds and Canberra man has been unable to combine well with Arthur this season, and the pair only seem to play well when the other is not playing and that led to Sezer being dropped last week against Leigh Leopards.<\/p>\n

Rapana added star quality for one season last year, but injuries and an inability to settle in one position bring his grade down.<\/p>\n

Batchelor is another whose grade could improve come the end of the season, but injuries have hampered his start to life at the club.<\/p>\n

C- \u2013 Ed Chamberlain (Leigh Leopards), Liam Watts (Castleford Tigers), Joe Phillips (Goole Vikings), Yusuf Aydin (Hull KR)<\/p>\n

Chamberlain joined on loan in 2024 before signing a three-year deal ahead of 2025. However, the fact he is on loan at Bradford after one season suggests he is not in the Black and Whites\u2019 plans.<\/p>\n

Watts returned to FC last season after exiting Castleford, and provided depth in the pack, playing eight times. Phillips is yet to make a senior appearance, but his grade could go up once he gets his opportunity.<\/p>\n

Aydin joined the club from Hull KR in a swap deal with Jack Brown, and it\u2019s fair to say neither player has developed after their respective switch. The forward is versatile, and has made 52 appearances in his time at the club, but a six-match ban a fortnight ago won\u2019t please Myler or anyone else at the club.<\/p>\n

D \u2013 Hugo Salabio (Huddersfield), Jed Cartwright (Newcastle Knights)<\/p>\n

Salabio hasn\u2019t really been given a chance in the first team, and when he has, he hasn\u2019t stood out.<\/p>\n

Cartwright was a mid-season signing in 2024, but since his arrival he has only been fit enough to play in an average of two in every five matches.<\/p>\n

F \u2013 Jordan Abdull (Hull KR), Oliver Holmes (Leigh Leopards)<\/p>\n

Abdull left FC without making an appearance, whilst Holmes managed just one game before retiring due to injury, which is why both of these very capable players on their day are ranked so low.<\/p>\n
