After many rumours and much speculation, CD Projekt Red has announced a third expansion for The Witcher 3<\/a> really is happening. It’s called Songs of the Past<\/a> and it’s coming to PS5 (no PS4 version) in 2027.<\/p>\n

The developer pitches the DLC as the following: “Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.”<\/p>\n

CD Projekt Red is creating the expansion in collaboration with Fools Theory, which previously made The Thaumaturge<\/a> and is currently producing The Witcher 1 Remake<\/a>. More details on Songs of the Past will be released in late Summer 2026.<\/p>\n

When it launches, Songs of the Past will be a brand new expansion for a 12-year-old game. Its first two pieces of DLC, Hearts of Stone<\/a> and Blood and Wine<\/a> launched within the first two years of the RPG launching. Now, CD Projekt Red is returning for more story content over a decade later.<\/p>\n

Of course, having put out Cyberpunk 2077<\/a>, it’s returning to The Witcher universe with The Witcher 4<\/a>, which is currently in development.<\/p>\n

You will need the most up-to-date PS5 version of The Witcher 3 to play Songs of the Past next year; the original PS4 edition has been abandoned for this content drop.
