Liverpool want Yan Diomande but he’s valued at around \u00a385m by RB Leipzig<\/p>\n

RB Leipzig are adamant Liverpool target Yan Diomande is going nowhere this summer.<\/p>\n

The Reds have placed the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international near the top of their wish-list and are prepared to rival European heavyweights PSG<\/a> for his signature.<\/p>\n

However, Leipzig chiefs are ready to swat away big-money offers after securing Champions League<\/a> qualification next season.<\/p>\n

Their hardline stance could therefore hamper Liverpool’s chances of landing the highly-coveted teenager and also complicate the picture for PSG’s Bradley Barcola, who is on Arsenal’s radar as well.<\/p>\n

PSG are primed to consider offers for Barcola – he has just two years left on his current contract at the Parc des Princes – if they can land \u00a385million-rated Diomande, who is also at the centre of a legal dispute.<\/p>\n

The forward signed with Jay-Z’s agency Roc Nation Sports in February but rival company Maxidel – owned by ex-Leeds man Max Gradel – claim Diomande is still “contractually bound” to their stable.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the year, Maxidel claimed they’d renewed terms with the Ivorian gem before he allegedly changed representatives.<\/p>\n

Mirror Football understands the Court of Arbitration for Sport is now investigating the matter and has registered a case which will require Diomande to comply.<\/p>\n

It’s partially why there is a firm chance he will stay put in Germany, particularly given it’s also a World Cup year.<\/p>\n

Manchester United<\/a> had also shown interest which has now cooled as they’re prioritising a midfield overhaul for Michael Carrick.<\/p>\n

History suggests Leipzig are a selling club but there is important context to consider.<\/p>\n

Last summer, when they sold Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United and Xavi Simons to Tottenham<\/a>, they were under financial pressure after missing out on European qualification entirely.<\/p>\n

Things are slightly different this time around and amid all the chaos, Leipzig are also working to extend Diomande’s contract, which already runs until 2030, and they have also internally discussed including a release clause.<\/p>\n

His current deal does not contain a buy-out option having only joined the Germans for around \u00a317.3m from CD Leganes last July.<\/p>\n

Last Friday, Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff stated on record that he was willing to block a sale in the coming months.<\/p>\n

He told Sky Germany: “If I were sporting director, I wouldn’t sell this young player, who hasn’t even completed a full season with us yet, regardless of the asking price.<\/p>\n

“Therefore, I can only advise the management to keep this player with us for the coming year as well. Then we’ll have to see how he develops further.”<\/p>\n

Mintzlaff also indicated he felt Diomande could become “even more expensive” in time.<\/p>\n

The player himself recently said in an interview with Kicker that he’d be remaining with RB Leipzig next term, though that still feels far from guaranteed.<\/p>\n

The left-winger mustered 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season, winning the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Year award.<\/p>\n

Diomande previously failed trials with Chelsea<\/a>, Rangers and Bournemouth<\/a> before his big breakthrough season in Spain.<\/p>\n

Given \u00a3116.5m Florian Wirtz has struggled to adapt to the Premier League<\/a>, it’s difficult to envisage Liverpool<\/a> committing top money for a fairly raw prospect who was playing college football in Florida as recently as 2024.<\/p>\n
