East Kent Hospitals and Kent Community Health Trust are looking for volunteers to cover a meet and greet role at the new Thanet Health Hub in Broadstairs.<\/p>\n

Volunteer will meet and greet patients and visitors, navigate them around the site and provide a welcoming face.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said: \u201cIt can be very daunting for patients to visit any healthcare setting so volunteers are able to diffuse anxiety and make sure patients and visitors feel welcome and get to where they need to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thanet Community Health Hub has been open to patients since October last year but an official opening ceremony, with NHS volunteer and resident Denise Stone, was held on Thursday, 14 May.<\/p>\n

While the hub has been welcoming patients since last year, it has steadily grown the range of services available and is now almost fully operational, bringing more joined-up care closer to home.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the day was volunteer Denise, a former nurse, cutting the ribbon \u2013 a fitting way to recognise the dedication of both our volunteers and clinicians who make such a difference every day.<\/p>\n

The hub brings together a wide range of services, including community nursing, therapies, diagnostics and GP services, all in one place to make access to care easier for people in Thanet.<\/p>\n

Mairead McCormick, Chief Executive, said: \u201cThis hub shows what we can achieve when we work together for our communities. By bringing services into one place, we are making it easier for people in Thanet to access the care they need, while improving how we support them in a more joined-up way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volunteer shifts available are Monday- Friday:<\/p>\n

09.00-11.00<\/p>\n

11.00-12.30<\/p>\n

12.30-14.00<\/p>\n
