{"id":607389,"date":"2026-05-27T22:33:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T22:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/607389\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T22:33:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T22:33:09","slug":"tomas-gwilliam-pens-new-deal-in-bear-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/607389\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomas Gwilliam pens new deal in Bear Country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Academy hooker Tomas Gwilliam has committed his future to Bristol Bears after signing a new contract with the club.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old young front rower has made 15 first-team appearances since signing professional terms in 2021, scoring four tries, continuing his development through the Bears pathway system into the senior squad.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Tomos-Gwilliam-1-768x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-60019\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Director of Rugby, Pat Lam, said: \u201cGwill is another really positive example of the talent coming through our Academy system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s developed hugely over the past few years, not just physically and technically, but also in his understanding of the game and what it takes to perform consistently at this level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat stands out most with Gwill is his attitude. He\u2019s eager to learn, he works hard every day and he\u2019s constantly looking for ways to improve his game. While he has great role models and mentors in Harry Thacker and Gabs Oghre, I know he will want to push them both hard next season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited about his future and look forward to seeing him continue to grow with the Bears.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gwilliam said: \u201cI\u2019m really proud to extend my time with Bristol Bears. I love the environment here and working with world class players and coaches every day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve learned a huge amount since coming into the senior environment and I feel like I\u2019m improving all the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe club has been brilliant for my development and I know there\u2019s still a lot more growth to come in my game.
