A stunning images has captured the power of the storm that struck North Wales overnight. It was taken by G. T Images in the early hours of today (Thursday) at The Plassey, in Wrexham<\/a>, as multiple lightning forks arced across, lighting up the night sky.<\/p>\n

People were woken as the storm crossed overhead with huge thunder booms and rooms lit up by the lightning in the Wrexham area. There were also electricty dips as the storm crashed overhead, accompanied by torrential downpours in parts.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (Wednesday), the Met Office issued a yellow alert for thunder, between 3pm and midnight, covering Anglesey<\/a>, Gwynedd<\/a>, Conwy<\/a>, Flintshire<\/a> and Wrexham.<\/p>\n

That warning was later extended to 4am this morning, with Flintshire also included in the alert. People were warned of potential heavy rain and hail in affected areas, with travel disruption and possible lightning strikes to buildings. There was also a warning of some short term loss of power, with a risk of flooding “of a few homes and businesses”.<\/p>\n

It comes after North Wales officially entered a heatwave yesterday, following three consecutive days of 25C temperatures.<\/p>\n
