Steven Spielberg\u2019s <\/a>latest sci-fi film, Disclosure Day, is already generating major buzz, with early critics hailing it as a reminder of the auteur\u2019s unrivaled talent. <\/a><\/p>\n

Arriving in theaters June 12, the movie stars Emily Blunt<\/a> as a meteorologist who teams up with a whistleblower (Josh O\u2019Connor) to uncover a government conspiracy theory that threatens to change human history forever. It also features Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson and Wyatt Russell.<\/p>\n

In the final trailer for the film, Spielberg reveals in a piece-to-camera: \u201cI am much more inclined now than I was when I made Close Encounters<\/a> to really believe that we are not the only intelligent civilization in the universe.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a story about us, all of us, up against the most extraordinary event in human history,\u201d he adds, in between scenes, showing Blunt and O\u2019Connor being chased by a government agency, Domingo declaring that it\u2019s time for a \u201c79-year cover-up of the truth to end\u201d and an alien coming face-to-face with a young girl.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen disclosure day actually happens, we are going to have to accept that we haven\u2019t been alone since the beginning of time,\u201d the Oscar-winning director continues.<\/a> \u201cI used to say to myself, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t this be wonderful if all of this turned out to be true?\u2019 I\u2019m now thinking, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t it be wonderful for people to know all of this is true?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Within hours of the trailer\u2019s release, critics flooded X with early plauditory reviews. <\/p>\n

\u201cI loved Disclosure Day,\u201d Gizmodo\u2019s Germain Lussier said on X. \u201cA dense roller coaster ride blending chase film, love story, & mystery, all wrapped in sci-fi wonder.\u201d He labeled it \u201cSpielberg\u2019s best film in 20 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a shock to absolutely no one, Steven Spielberg has delivered another towering home run with #DisclosureDay,\u201d agreed Collider\u2019s editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub. \u201cI could go on and on about what I loved, but I was lucky enough to see the movie knowing almost nothing, and I strongly recommend you do the same. Stop watching the trailers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weintraub singled out Blunt\u2019s \u201cincredible\u201d performance, saying: \u201cI know big summer movies aren\u2019t usually the kinds of performances that get awards-season attention, but once people see what she does in this\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\u2018Disclosure\u2018Disclosure Day\u2019 is being hailed in early reviews as \u2018another towering homerun\u2019 for Steven Spielberg (Universal Pictures)<\/p>\n

IndieWire\u2019s Jim Hemphill similarly commended it as \u201ctop-tier Spielberg,\u201d adding, \u201cRight from the opening Spielberg lays down the gauntlet and reminds you that he does this stuff better than anybody in the history of film.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t remember the last time I loved a Spielberg movie as much as Disclosure Day,\u201d The Wrap\u2019s Drew Taylor admitted. Praising it as \u201cthrilling, funny, deeply emotional and impeccably acted,\u201d he extolled Blunt\u2019s acting as \u201castounding.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFull of mystery and wonder, it proves that nobody does it quite like Spielberg,\u201d Taylor said. \u201cJust great.\u201d<\/p>\n
