Radiohead<\/a> guitarist Ed O\u2019Brien has got bad news for any fans who are expecting a new album from the band anytime soon.<\/p>\n It has now been a decade since they released their last album, 2016\u2019s A Moon Shaped Pool, and while they returned to the live arena after eight years away in 2025, there\u2019s no album yet in the pipeline.<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien, who recently released his new solo album Blue Morpho, told NME<\/a> in a new interview, \u201cPeople want to hear another Radiohead record. I can\u2019t even imagine it because we\u2019ve not even talked about another record.\u201d<\/p>\n He then stated that the unenjoyable process of making A Moon Shaped Pool<\/a> is why Radiohead have been reluctant to return to the studio.<\/p>\n The guitarist shared, \u201cI think that\u2019s because the last record was so fucking awful to make! The tale of that record is so fucking dark. It casts a long shadow.\u201d<\/p>\n Looking ahead to the future, O\u2019Brien added, \u201cMaybe ask me in six years time!\u201d<\/p>\n Similarly, in February, Jonny Greenwood also poured scorn<\/a> on the idea that a new album from Radiohead was on the way, saying, \u201cI have no idea,\u201d when asked if it was likely.<\/p>\n Greenwood added, \u201cI mean, I\u2019m surprised that the tour actually happened and that we all enjoyed it so much. But venues get booked so far in advance. To do another, we would have to decide now, and even then it wouldn\u2019t happen for 18 months.\u201d<\/p>\n Nevertheless, while a new album shouldn\u2019t be expected anytime soon, O\u2019Brien previously let slip that they do plan to play live again in 2027 and re-create their recent European tour on other continents.<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien shared in March, \u201cWhat we\u2019re going to do is, every year we\u2019re going to do a different continent, and we\u2019re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less.\u201d<\/p>\n Before he next reunites with Radiohead, O\u2019Brien has his own solo tour<\/a> to deal with in October, which will include a date at the Barbican in London.<\/p>\n
