Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Kieron Richardson has signed a big-money deal to stay on Hollyoaks. The fan favourite will keep playing Ste Hay on the soap until summer 2027.

The soap’s bosses convinced him to stay by promising him great storylines, as Kieron told Digital Spy: “I’ve just signed a new contract. As long as I’m happy and I’m getting storylines, I’ll stay. I live in Manchester, so the studio is half an hour away. I still get to take my kids to school, I still get to go home to my family every night.

“The great thing about Hollyoaks is one day I could be doing silly comedy and the next day I could be crying my eyes out because some family member has died. Every day is completely different. As an actor, it isn’t one note. Why wouldn’t you stay?”

Ste has been on the show for more than two decades and it’s a dream come true for him.

He added: “If you grow up wanting to be a pilot, whether you fly for British Airways or Ryanair, you’re still flying a plane. All I wanted to do when I was growing up was act and being on Hollyoaks means I get to do it every day of the week, so I couldn’t be happier.”

Kieron will be at the centre of the action in the coming months, as his character is set to be involved in a raft of big storylines involving his family.

Kieron said: “Ste and Rex have just got married. It’s Ste’s fifth wedding. We’re going to see how they get on in their newfound marriage.

“In Hollyoaks style, there’s drama afoot. James didn’t die in the bomb episode a few years ago and he’s going to return. That will set the cat amongst the pigeons which will open things up for further stories for Ste.

“And Ste’s daughter Leah is coming back this summer. She takes care of Ste for a bit in a financial way.”

The role of Leah has been recast, with newcomer Charlotte Riley taking over. Leah is heading back with her new partner Imran Maalik, who’s now a tech millionaire – and certainly not shy when it comes to flashing the cash.
