In Paris, at the Roland Garros 2026 courts, the third round of the singles tournaments has begun, where Spanish tennis player Pablo Carreño faced Argentinian Thiago Agustín Tirante. The first set was extremely tense: Carreño managed to snatch victory in a tiebreak, not giving his opponent a single point — 7:6 (7:0). This result became a key moment at the start of the match, where both athletes demonstrated a high level of play both in serving and in rallies.

During the set, Carreño found himself under pressure several times but managed to save a set point and prevent Tirante from capitalizing on his break chances. The Argentinian, in turn, held his serve confidently, but was unable to use two break opportunities at the end of the set. The Spaniard remained composed and took the set to a tiebreak, where he completely dominated.

Meanwhile, other matches continue on the courts: Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) defeated Viktorija Golubic (Switzerland) 6:4, while Nuno Borges (Portugal) is battling Andrey Rublev (Russia) — 5:7, 2:1. In the women’s draw, Xiyu Wang (China) leads against Yuliia Starodubtseva (Ukraine) — 6:3, 2:1. All these matches are taking place on the tournament’s sixth day of play, as the Round of 16 participants are determined.

The Carreno vs. Tirante match drew special attention after the Argentine knocked out another Spaniard, Alejandro Davidovich, in the second round. Now Carreno is fighting not only for a spot in the next stage but also for revenge on behalf of his compatriot. The match is being played in a highly competitive environment, where every game can be decisive.

As russpain.com notes, such matches often become defining for the further course of the tournament, as was the case in other major competitions, for example, when Cerro Porteño and Sporting Cristal competed for a place in the Copa Libertadores playoffs — you can learn more about this in the article about the decisive match in Asunción.

Roland Garros is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, annually bringing together the world’s top tennis players. For Spanish players, this tournament traditionally holds special significance: it is here that athletes like Rafael Nadal have repeatedly found success. In 2026, the fight for a place in the final stages once again promises to be fierce, and each matchday brings new intrigue and unexpected turns.

In Paris, at the Roland Garros 2026 courts, the third round of the singles tournaments has begun, where…

[38
101,118,56,54,55
post-611507","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tennis","tag-sports","tag-tennis","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
