The question is, do these phones charge at the same rate in the real world?

To answer this question, our friend Ben from Lover of Tech performed a full battery charging test with the two foldable phones side-by-side, as well as the Galaxy S25 Ultra for good measure. The results might surprise you.

First things first, as Ben shows in the video below, the batteries inside all three phones are at 100% health, so the results were not affected by any battery degradation, despite each phone having a different battery cycle count.

Similar on paper but different in practice

As for the results, the Galaxy S25 Ultra charged its 5,000mAh battery the fastest with a 45W charger, but it was much slower than usual, which may have been an anomaly.

More to the point at hand, here is how the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Fold 6 compare. These were their battery levels recorded at 15-minute intervals.

15 minutes: 29% on both Folds (and the S25 Ultra).

30 minutes: 54% on Galaxy Z Fold 7; 54% on Galaxy Z Fold 6.

45 minutes: 74% on Galaxy Z Fold 7; 70% on Galaxy Z Fold 6.

60 minutes: 89% on Galaxy Z Fold 7; 85% on Galaxy Z Fold 6.

75 minutes: 95% on Galaxy Z Fold 7; 93% on Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 reached 100% battery charge in nearly 1 hour and 26 minutes, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 6 finished charging in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

What we have learned is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 charges slightly faster than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, despite both phones having similar battery specifications and charging speeds.

Then again, the Galaxy S25 Ultra charged a lot slower than usual, which shows that you can’t always rely on charge times being consistent. Anomalies can happen.

Furthermore, Ben’s video below some interesting data regarding temperatures while charging, and once again, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 beat the Galaxy Z Fold 6 by running slightly cooler most of the time.

Check out the video below for more information about temperatures and detailed results for all three phones.

Buy the Galaxy Z Fold 7 early for exclusive bonuses

Pre-order

Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 7 is larger, slimmer and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but…

[6
3585,3586,3587,59,86,56,54,55
post-6131","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-galaxy-s25-ultra","tag-galaxy-z-fold-6","tag-galaxy-z-fold-7","tag-gb","tag-technology","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
