A Coventry<\/a> food trailer received a two-star hygiene rating after high-risk foods were found to be unrefrigerated. Yaal Taste on Holbrook Lane was inspected by Coventry City Council<\/a> in February.<\/p>\n

Curries, which were pre-prepared, and other ‘high-risk’ items were stored at room temperature in the mobile unit, according to Coventry City Council<\/a>. Some food items had to be disposed of.<\/p>\n

Certain foods must be stored at or below 8C to limit the growth of harmful bacteria linked to food poisoning. Work surfaces and equipment were also not being properly disinfected.<\/p>\n

Concerns were also raised over hygienic food handling practices. Sanitiser was not available on the premises and there were no hygienic hand-drying facilities.<\/p>\n

Staff were not wearing ‘suitable or clean’ overclothing. Inspectors said they also had an ‘inadequate’ level of food hygiene awareness.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Coventry City Council<\/a> said: \u201cAll businesses that sell food in Coventry<\/a> are inspected by Coventry City Council<\/a>. We have continued to work with the business to ensure that food safety laws are met, improvements are made, and the outlet is safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst improvements can be made by businesses following the inspection, they do not automatically alter the food hygiene rating score, but they can apply for a re-rating.\u201d<\/p>\n
