Dan Imhoff took his seat to watch as Kostyuk denied Iga the chance of a first clay-court title in two years. Not wanting to lose his seat, Dan stayed to watch another Ukrainian, Elina Svitolina, who defeated Belinda Bencic to set up a quarterfinal against Kostyuk.

With no match to cover in the morning, Chris Oddo got out to chat to fans. He hung around the big scoreboard outside Court 9 and asked people for their men’s champion predictions, and even bumped into Jesper de Jong’s dad. Given that several people chose Zverev for the title, Chris felt he should check out the German’s match against De Jong, in which Zverev faced few problems. Chris had one more story to file on Sunday: a thoughtful piece on Zach Svajda – currently in action on Chatrier – his 2026 season of grief off court and success on it, and how he has navigated both.

Alex Sharp took up position on Lenglen for the all-Spanish showdown between 34-year-old Pablo Carreno Busta and 19-year-old Rafael Jodar. Youth, on this occasion, was the winner.
