British actor Owain Rhys Davies has died aged 44, his family has announced. <\/p>\n

The Welsh TV and film star was best known for his role in Twin Peaks<\/a>, where he played Agent Wilson. He has also starred in The OA<\/a>, Impact Winter, Alice Through the Looking Glass and A Serial Killer\u2019s Guide to Life over the years.<\/p>\n

In a statement, his brother Rhodri<\/a> wrote: \u2018It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away.<\/p>\n

\u2018This news will come as a great shock to many. The reach of Owain\u2019s love, friendship, and generosity was vast.\u2019<\/p>\n

He shared there were still \u2018questions\u2019 over his brother\u2019s sudden death, but \u2018our understanding at this stage is that Owain passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.\u2019<\/p>\n

He continued: \u2018The outpouring of messages we have received over the past few days has been deeply moving and a testament to the impact he had on so many lives.<\/p>\n

\u2018Owain was fortunate enough to have more than one family. Alongside his biological one, he built extraordinary, family-like bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones.\u2019<\/p>\n

Calling him \u2018a brother to so many others\u2019, he added they \u2018take comfort in knowing how loved he was.\u2019<\/p>\n

His most recent project was an indie film called La Fantastia, the synopsis of which described it as \u2018a surreal drama about grief, imagination & the fragile beauty of the human condition.\u2019<\/p>\n

The news of his death has been met with an outpouring of tributes from across the industry.<\/p>\n

Scottish actress Ruth Connell wrote: \u2018Can\u2019t write this for crying \u2013 I can\u2019t see through my glasses all fogged up. Trying to write this as I have been for days, and I can\u2019t imagine when it will be different \u2013 the loss to us all who loved him [Owain] beyond measure.\u2019<\/p>\n

She called him the \u2018funniest. Kindest. Silliest. Deepest. Singie-est. Uniquest\u2026\u2019, adding that he was \u2018also diligent, thoughtful as well as just a glorious ray of Welsh sunshine whenever he turned up\u2019 and had an enormous heart.<\/p>\n

SNL writer and Welcome to Wrexham star Humphrey Ker shared: \u2018My friend Owain has died. Unexpectedly and most unwelcomely. <\/p>\n

He was a gentleman and a wally and a talent and a giver and maker of joy.<\/p>\n

\u2018I shall miss him very much. I shall, in the brilliant words of Jack Rooke: \u201cNot let the injustice of what could have been override all the joy of what was.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n

Downton Abbey star Joanna Froggatt shared her condolences.<\/p>\n

\u2018I am just devastated to lose our beautiful friend, he was more than a friend, he was joy, and life and talent and kindness and fun and intelligence, [he] was everything, and my brain can\u2019t compute that we don\u2019t get to hug him again. <\/p>\n

\u2018What I would give for one more hug. You\u2019re forever in our hearts cariad,\u2019 she reflected.<\/p>\n

Netflix star Fra Fee called him the \u2018unbelievably beautiful legendary\u00a0Owain\u2019 who was a \u2018LIGHT in our lives\u2019. Fellow star Tom Rooke dubbed him \u2018the most beautiful man\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018The light & soul of every room he walked into. Endless humour, kindness and generosity,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
