{"id":617443,"date":"2026-06-02T18:12:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T18:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/617443\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T18:12:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T18:12:08","slug":"qualcomm-ai-agents-will-be-as-transparent-as-they-will-be-inescapable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/617443\/","title":{"rendered":"Qualcomm: AI agents will be as transparent as they will be inescapable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"docs-internal-guid-f5e87eff-7fff-18a9-9a69-2718ce369c1e\">COMPUTEX 2026 In his Computex keynote speech this week Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon offered a glimpse of an AI-augmented future straight out of an episode of Black Mirror.<\/p>\n<p>According to Amon, agents \u2014 automated systems which harness AI models to automate complex tasks without the need for human supervision \u2014 will fundamentally change humanity\u2019s relationship with technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe phone, today, is at the center of your digital life and therefore everything is around the phone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>But in the not too distant future, Amon argues that agents will take their place. Phones, like wearables, will simply become an extension of the agent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Imagine your own personal Jarvis accessible from any connected device whether it\u2019s a pair of earbuds, smart glasses, smartphone, or notebook. These devices will be constantly feeding sensor data to an agent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe agent isn&#8217;t tied to the device, it actually moves with the user. It\u2019s there with the user, regardless of the device that you have,\u201d he explained. \u201cOnce you understand that change, you understand how the whole mobile industry is going to change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And of course, Amon expects, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/networks\/2026\/05\/27\/6g-the-next-gen-of-wireless-tech-nobodys-ready-to-pay-for\/5246136\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">6G networks<\/a> will supercharge these sensing capabilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have smart glasses, they see what you see, so the connectivity needs to enable a very fast uplink,\u201d he said. \u201c6G is going to make all of us into walking cameras in this world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not creepy at all then. It\u2019s no wonder Meta is so keen on making smart glasses a thing. Agentic AI adoption becomes yet another funnel by which data can be used to serve you ads.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t stop there. If Amon is to be believed, realtime AI analysis of 6G radio waves will allow for even more pervasive prediction models.<\/p>\n<p>Each radio connection, he explains, will be like a radar, and by tracking and triangulating hundreds or millions of these connections, network operators will be able to generate a digital twin of your neighborhood, city, and eventually country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou&#8217;re going to detect on every road, every car, every bicycle, every truck, every pedestrian,\u201d he explained. \u201cYou can actually identify those objects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like most things in modern society, this shift will be driven by economics. \u201cResistance is futile,\u201d the chip exec said.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because for this vision of the future to be economical, the agents can\u2019t just run in the datacenter. Each of these devices will be responsible for offloading varying degrees of the workload.<\/p>\n<p>For example, an agent harness might run on your smartphone\u2019s CPU. Smaller, less complex tasks might run on a local model on the device&#8217;s NPU or GPU, while more complex tasks might run at the network edge or a neighboring datacenter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And to Qualcomm\u2019s credit, while local AI can offer greater privacy, that\u2019s only true so far as the software vendor\u2019s willingness to respect it.
