\n\tWarner Bros.\u2019 \u201cWeapons<\/a>\u201d opened at No. 1 at the U.K. and Ireland box office with \u00a32.8 million ($3.7 million), according to Comscore.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney\u2019s \u201cFreakier Friday<\/a>\u201d debuted in second place with $2.3 million, while the studio\u2019s \u201cThe Fantastic Four: First Steps\u201d moved to third, taking $1.8 million for a three-week total of $25.5 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tParamount\u2019s \u201cThe Naked Gun\u201d was in fourth with $1.4 million, bringing its two-week total to $5.9 million. Universal\u2019s animated sequel \u201cThe Bad Guys 2\u201d rounded out the top five with $1 million for a cumulative $9.9 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe lower half of the top 10 was led by Universal\u2019s \u201cJurassic World Rebirth\u201d at No. 6, which earned \u00a3$892,222 for a cumulative $44.9 million. Warner Bros.\u2019 \u201cSuperman\u201d ranked No. 7 with $874,672, bringing its total to $34.9 million. <\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros.\u2019 racing drama \u201cF1\u201d placed No. 8, adding $378,875 for $28.8 million to date. Yash Raj Films\u2019 \u201cSaiyaara\u201d came in at No. 9 with $328,509 for a running total of $3.5 million, while Trafalgar Releasing\u2019s Eminem fans documentary \u201cStans\u201d was at No. 10, grossing $285,426 and pushing its cumulative total to $473,893.<\/p>\n

\n\tCeline Song\u2019s follow-up to \u201cPast Lives,\u201d the romantic comedy-drama \u201cMaterialists,\u201d leads this week\u2019s new releases, arriving in more than 300 locations from Wednesday Aug. 13 via Sony Pictures. The film stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.<\/p>\n

\n\tThursday sees the arrival of two of the year\u2019s biggest films from India \u2013 Yash Raj Films\u2019 spy universe action sequel \u201cWar 2<\/a>,\u201d headlined by NTR and Hrithik Roshan; and Lights On Entertainment and Hamsini Entertainment\u2019s \u201cCoolie,\u201d with superstar Rajinikanth<\/a>, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Upendra and Soubin Shahir.<\/p>\n

\n\tMusic documentary \u201cThe Grateful Dead Movie 2025 Meet-Up\u201d also opens on Thursday via Trafalgar Releasing.<\/p>\n

\n\tFriday brings a packed slate headed by Kaleidoscope Entertainment\u2019s family comedy \u201cSuper-Charlie,\u201d which will open in 300+ locations. Netflix launches Benjamin Caron\u2019s crime thriller \u201cNight Always Comes,\u201d starring Vanessa Kirby and Jennifer Jason Leigh, while Modern Films continues its \u201cOslo Stories Trilogy\u201d with \u201cLove.\u201d Bulldog Film Distribution offers the Swedish drama \u201cUnmoored,\u201d and Tull Stories debuts the intimate documentary \u201cMotherboard,\u201d directed by and starring Victoria Mapplebeck.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdditional Friday launches include ICA Cinema\u2019s \u201cMy Grandmother Trelot\u00f3t\u00f3,\u201d Park Circus\u2019 4K restoration of Jim Jarmusch\u2019s \u201cGhost Dog: The Way of the Samurai,\u201d and Curzon\u2019s 4K re-issue of \u201cCentral Station.\u201d Entertainment Film Distributors rolls out body horror \u201cTogether,\u201d Miracle Comms presents \u201cBambi: A Tale of Life in the Woods,\u201d and Universal Pictures previews action sequel \u201cNobody 2\u201d ahead of its wider release.<\/p>\n
