{"id":618243,"date":"2026-06-03T04:13:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T04:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618243\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T04:13:20","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T04:13:20","slug":"cops-handcuff-henry-nowak-as-he-bled-out-after-sikh-knife-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618243\/","title":{"rendered":"Cops handcuff Henry Nowak as he bled out after Sikh knife attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sickening bodycam footage that British cops handcuffing a dying student who had been stabbed with a ceremonial Sikh knife has shocked the United Kingdom Tuesday \u2014 and the case kicked off massive protests. <\/p>\n<p>Henry Nowak was seen bleeding out, pleading with the cops for help, but the officers read him his rights \u2014 after his attacker falsely accused the white victim of racism.<\/p>\n<p>Nowak, 18, repeatedly told police officers \u201cI can\u2019t breathe,\u201d after being stabbed with an 8-inch blade in an unprovoked attack in Southampton, England, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>His killer, 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa, falsely claimed that Nowak had racially abused him, with cops taking the murderer\u2019s side when they arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Critics, including Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, claimed the cops\u2019 actions were driven by woke policies \u2014 and the fear of being accused of racism \u2014 rather than administering justice.<\/p>\n<p>Henry Nowak repeatedly told police officers \u201cI can\u2019t breathe\u201d after being stabbed with an 8-inch blade in an unprovoked attack in Southampton, southern England. Hampshire Police<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been stabbed,\u201d Nowak pleads with officers as they put him in handcuffs, to which a heartless cop replies, \u201cI don\u2019t think you have, mate,\u201d according to bodycam footage released by the police with permission from his family.<\/p>\n<p>Nowak bled out after Digwa stabbed him five times in his legs and in his heart in a cowardly attack following a night out on Dec. 3, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Digwa, who said he carried the blade because of his Sikh faith, was sentenced to a minimum of 21 years to life in prison at Southampton Crown Court on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The sentence allowed the details of the horrific attack to become public in the UK. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fear of being called racist was greater than dealing with Henry Nowak\u2019s murder,\u201d Farage said in an incidiary statement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should respond to this with pure cold rage. Britain\u2019s historic way of life is being thrown away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The case is yet another major blow to unpopular left-wing Prime Minister Keir Starmer\u2019s government. Starmer said he \u201cfelt sick\u201d seeing the video, but accused Farage of \u201cwhipping up division.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Tuesday night a crowd of protesters outside the Southampton police station, some of whom shouted \u201cI can\u2019t breathe,\u201d gave way to violent protests. <\/p>\n<p>Rioters threw bottles, flares, rocks and garbage cans at riot police.<\/p>\n<p>Nowak\u2019s family has called for calm \u2014 even as they lambasted their son\u2019s killer and the police response to his attack.<\/p>\n<p>The case raised racial tensions in the English community after large surges in both the foreign-born population and the non-white population over the last decade.<\/p>\n<p> The Asian population \u2014 including people of Indian and Pakistani origin \u2014 has grown to 5.5 million, increasing nearly two percentage points.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of the killer, Kiran Kaur, hid the knife for her son and was found guilty of assisting an offender and is due to be sentenced in July.<\/p>\n<p>Police handcuff Henry Nowak as he lies on the ground after being stabbed.
