{"id":618428,"date":"2026-06-03T06:43:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T06:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618428\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T06:43:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T06:43:09","slug":"cricket-dome-created-in-willenhall-to-boost-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618428\/","title":{"rendered":"Cricket dome created in Willenhall to boost game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A \u00a31.2m indoor cricket facility has opened with the aim of getting more people into the sport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It has been built in Willenhall at the home of Sporting Khalsa Football Club, with some of the funding coming from money generated by national cricket tournament The Hundred.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The site was formerly wasteland and Richard Thompson, the chair of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), said: &#8220;Cricket needs all weather facilities, it needs things that can serve the whole community, not just part of it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">This facility is the third of its kind built with the support of the ECB and it can accommodate three batting lanes or an indoor match.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A \u00a31.2m indoor cricket facility has opened with the aim of getting more people into the sport.
